Three works on the themes of displacement and forced migration

Η ομάδα Forensic Architecture απαρτίζεται από αρχιτέκτονες, προγραμματιστές, σκηνοθέτες, καλλιτέχνες, δημοσιογράφους, επιστήμονες και νομικούς, με κοινή αποστολή την ανάπτυξη, εφαρμογή και διάδοση νέων τεχνικών, μεθόδων και εννοιών για τη διερεύνηση πράξεων βίας, καταστολής ή περιβαλλοντικής καταστροφής που ασκούνται ή συγκαλύπτονται από κρατικούς ή ιδιωτικούς φορείς.

Forensic Architecture's mandate is to develop, employ, and disseminate new techniques, methods, and concepts for investigating acts of violence, repression, or environmental destruction perpetrated or concealed by state or private actors.

On 17 October 2023, a massive explosion at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City killed hundreds of civilians sheltering in a courtyard. Together with Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah, a reconstructive surgeon working in the hospital when the blast occurred, we reconstructed the strike and its consequences.

Το To Catch a Predator ήταν μια δημοφιλής τηλεοπτική εκπομπή σχεδιασμένη για να παγιδεύει παιδόφιλους, δελεάζοντάς τους σε ένα κινηματογραφικό πλατό όπου τους περίμενε μια συνέντευξη και, τελικά, η σύλληψη. Το έργο γαστρονομικής τέχνης Tastes in plates; getting together with neighbours, μας τοποθετεί σε ένα τραπέζι όπου οι γείτονες συγκεντρώνονται για να μοιραστούν Μεσογειακές γεύσεις μαζί με τη δημιουργό. Το πρότζεκτ αυτό υιοθετεί τα δικά του χαρακτηριστικά για το πως μπορεί να προκαλέσει, εκπλήξει, αφυπνίσει και να ενθαρρύνει ένα κοινωνικό περιβάλλον, στο οποίο οι γείτονες συμμετέχουν ενεργά, προκειμένου να αντιληφθούν και να αλληλεπιδράσουν βιώνοντας με ένα πιο κοινωνικό τρόπο, τη διαδικασία και το αποτέλεσμα ενός έργου τέχνης.

The food art project Tastes in plates; getting together with neighbours, places us at a table where neighbours are gathering to share Mediterranean tastes with the artist. The project embraces its own features in terms of how it can challenge, astonish, awaken and encourage a social environment where the neighbours gather up to take part in the activity in order to perceive and interact in a more sociable way and to experience the procedure and the result of an art work.

Η Leni Riefenstahl θεωρείται μία από τις πιο αμφιλεγόμενες γυναίκες του 20ού αιώνα, τόσο ως καλλιτέχνιδα όσο και ως προπαγανδίστρια του ναζιστικού καθεστώτος. Οι ταινίες της Triumph of the Will και Olympia αποτελούν παραδείγματα εξιδανικευμένης απεικόνισης του σώματος και λατρείας της υπεροχής. Ταυτόχρονα, όμως, οι εικόνες αυτές προβάλλουν περιφρόνηση για το ατελές και το αδύναμο. Η αισθητική της Riefenstahl είναι σήμερα πιο διαδεδομένη από ποτέ — ισχύει όμως άραγε το ίδιο και για το ιδεολογικό της υπόβαθρο;

Leni Riefenstahl is considered one of the most controversial women of the 20th century as an artist and a N**i propagandist. Her films Triumph of the Will and Olympia stand for perfectly staged body worship and the celebration of the superior and victorious. At the same time, these images project contempt for the imperfect and weak. Riefenstahl’s aesthetics are more prevalent today than ever—but does the same hold true for their underlying message?
