Cuba doesn’t just welcome you; it wraps itself around you.

These are some of the last frames the talented Dutch photographer Heleen Klop heleenklop_travel gifted us during her residency at Unpack Studio late last year. Here, you see some of the faces behind our project—the team that keeps this ship sailing—alongside the everyday poetry of Cuban life. Heleen didn’t just capture our art; she captured our reality, our colors, and our people. This is proof that an artist residency is never just an exchange—it’s an immersion.
Thank you once again, Heleen. You saw us. 🇨🇺📷

We continue to share the work of photographer Heleen Klop heleenklop_travel , a former resident of Unpack Studio, whose lens captured the quiet soul of the island.

Trinidad doesn’t reveal itself all at once. You have to walk its streets slowly, let the colors sink in, and wait for the light to hit just right. She did exactly that, and we’re so glad she ventured beyond Havana to other parts of Cuba, resulting in this stunning series of images that feel less like photos and more like memories.

There’s something almost magical about Viñales; the quiet majesty of its mogotes, the scent of to***co drying in the fields, the way light filters through the caves. Dutch photographer Heleen Klop heleenklop_travel , a former Unpack Studio resident, captured it all with such sensitivity, and we’re honored she chose to share these glimpses of her journey with us. She took them during one of her trips through Cuba late last year.

Some places demand to be felt rather than seen. El Callejón de Hamel is one of them. Between the vibrant murals, the religious symbols, and the echoes of rumba, there’s a story waiting to be told. Our friend, photographer Heleen Klop heleenklop_travel , told it beautifully with her camera during her stay with us at Unpack Studio, a glimpse of her time in Havana at the end of last year.

We are so grateful to Heleen for sharing these stunning images with us.
