NOW OPEN I Tropicália I El Apartamento (Madrid) I Through July 30

“Tropicália” is a collective project by artists Maria Ana Vasco Costa, Márcio Vilela, and Ariamna Contino, curated by Verónica de Mello. This exhibition is part of the PHotoESPAÑA 2026 Off Programme.

◉ “Tropicália is a sensitive and critical journey through the tropical landscape, bringing together history, sensory experience, and contemporary artistic practice. Inspired by Alexander von Humboldt’s research methods, the exhibition presents scientific and artistic exploration as complementary ways of understanding nature: Maria Ana Vasco Costa develops a pictorial record that serves as a vehicle of memory; Márcio Vilela approaches the landscape as a totalizing experience; and Ariamna Contino presents an installation connected to traditional medicine knowledge.
The exhibition seeks to create a dialogue between past and present, between representation and experience, inviting the audience to engage with the landscape in a conscious, sensitive, and critical way.”

NOW OPEN I In Depth_ Orestes HernándezI El Apartamento (Miami)

“In Depth_ Orestes Hernández” it brings together a carefully curated selection of works by artist Orestes Hernández (Holguín, Cuba, 1981). This is the first in a series of solo exhibitions that will form part of a program of individual shows launched last April at our Miami venue.

◉ “(…)In this exhibition, we must once again grapple with the process of exploration, applying an improvisational approach as we engage
with his paintings and sculptures. The pieces gathered here, span- ning just over ten years of his work, allow us to bypass chronological formalities, stages, and situational analyses and dive headfirst into a face-to-face encounter with the creatures Orestes never
stops producing. It is a good opportunity to keep turning the inexhaustible screw of illusion and unease. To “try again. Fail again.
Fail better.”_ Daleysi Moya

Opening hours: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and Friday by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please contact l +1 (305) 506-7141.

It is a pleasure to invite you to the opening of “La forma del error. Entre lo tallado, lo transmitido y lo registrado”, a solo exhibition by artist Lázaro A. Saavedra, on Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM at our headquarters in Havana.

◉ Opening | “La forma del error. Entre lo tallado, lo transmitido y lo registrado”
Thursday, May 21, 6:00 PM
Calle H esquina a 15, #313, Apto. 3, Vedado, La Habana

“What do we see when we look at an image?
Often, a closed form, seemingly autonomous, as though it had always existed in that way.
This exhibition begins from a different premise: there is no isolated image.
Every form emerges from repetitions and variations that, once stabilized, come to appear natural or definitive.
The works are structured around different modes of production (...)” _ Lázaro Saavedra

◉ “This exhibition brings together artists from different generations and is structured around a form of painting (…) that ventures into the field of an archaeology of the gaze. Each work functions as the articulation—or activation—of a critical gesture, as a note within broader processes of artistic research whose ultimate aim may be to challenge the now widely accepted taxonomy of image-based practices. Indeed, in no case are we confronted with a painting that seeks to detach itself from its ontological condition, from the tradition that precedes it, or from the almost placebo-like quality attributed to it as an ineffable object of beauty. Here, painting is not afraid of being painting.” — Luis Sicre

We are pleased to invite you next Saturday April 25th, to our Miami location, where we will open a new exhibition program: IN DEPTH will be a series of Solo exhibitions conceived as Statement Preentantions, that aims to offer an in-depth overview, with a retrospective character to the work of our artists.
On this first occasion, we will be presenting the work of Cuban Artist Orestes Hernandez. We look forward to welcome you.

◉ Opening | IN DEPTH | Orestes Hernández
Saturday, April 25, 11am to 7pm
4750 SW 74th Ave, Miami, FL 33155

“With the work of Orestes Hernández, something surprising happens: after spending years engaging with it, we believe we know it, understand it, measure it—but the truth is, we know nothing. This is a deficiency that is not necessarily ours, but rather something we could call a ‘failure of origin.’ When I speak of failure, understand that I am referring to traps, to deliberate cognitive and semantic displacements. Because that is what interests Orestes most: returning to the functioning of things (our perception of things) and insisting on it. Stretching it, twisting it, pushing it to the limit until the bone of artifice reveals itself in its fierce materiality. And then he leaves, abandoning us in no man’s land, asking ourselves who all those impossible beings are that he left us with. Of those characters, of course, we also know nothing, except that they speak his same language and dismiss categories so valued in art such as representation, metaphor, and coherence. In that reality without conventional discursive anchors, ‘the secret’ of a winged beast is nothing more than that: a secret. And how could we ever come to know what is, by nature, unknowable?” _Daleysi Moya

LAST DAYS TO VISIT I Apertura Ruy López I El Apartamento (Main Room, Madrid)

“Apertura Ruy López” is the artist Eduardo Ponjuán’s first solo exhibition in Madrid. Curated by Sandra Sosa, the exhibition brings together a selection of recent works by the artist, considered one of the most important figures in contemporary Cuban art.

◉ “Apertura Ruy López” is Eduardo Ponjuán’s first exhibition in Madrid. The dialogue with the European and Spanish cultural context is inevitable in this passage, with references to Goya, Picasso, Fra Angelico, Caspar David Friedrich, Velázquez, Van Gogh… all of whom valued the aesthetic delight of chess for its capacity to articulate intellectual rigor with chance and play. In his words, the purity of chess is not limited to its impossibility of commercialization; it extends to the movement of pieces across the board as an expression of thought. Thought, which in Ponjuán’s work is always projected as (aesth)etics, grounded in the awareness of its negative freedom (Isaiah Berlin) in the face of a world increasingly drawn toward dystopias.

Faithful to himself, Ponjuán returns to his inquiry into representation, with skepticism. His analytical approach to art is marked by visual heterodoxy and an undifferentiated movement between drawing, painting, object, and installation. His practice responds to a post-conceptual mode of thinking, where the creative process is rationalized and now operates within a cynical relationship to the new “paradigm of reality” driven by digitalization, virtualization, and the aestheticization of the real. A simulacrum grounded in the supremacy of the fake.” _ Sandra Sosa

◉ Inauguración | “Equelecúa”

Project Room
