Cuba’s award-winning international smash hit dance & music show Pasión de Buena Vista makes a welcome return to theatres across the UK in February 2022. All the way from Havana, Pasión de Buena Vista’s celebrated dance troupe El Grupo de Bailar will transport audiences on a journey through the streets of Cuba with the island’s most iconic dances, including the Salsa, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Danzón and
Bolero. And adding to the heat is the famous The Buena Vista Band, a stunning twelve-piece ensemble of highly skilled Cuban musicians and singers renowned throughout Cuba and the Latin Music community. Fusing Cuba’s old traditions with the island’s new musical influences, the show promises to quickly cast a spell on the audience whisking them away evoking the atmosphere of a breezy Havana club, it’s almost more like a vacation to Cuba than just a concert, which perhaps explains why Pasión de Buena Vista has performed to more than 800,000 people at over 800 shows across 35 different European countries. This feel-good show’s high production value includes over 150 flamboyant dazzling tailor-made outfits which conjure up Cuba’s cultural heritage, vibrancy, passions and invigorating, life-affirming spirit. Fronting the show is Musical Director and lead vocalist Pelayo Oxamendi. A music graduate of the University of Havana, Pelayo worked with the legends Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, Ruben Gonzalez and Pio Leyva from the iconic Buena Vista Social Club. Leyva acclaims Pelayo as one of the best singers in Cuba, and one of his equal successors. And Pelayo has since worked with many hugely successful international artists on recordings in Cuba. Looking ahead to Pasión De Buena Vista’s UK tours, Pelayo said, “We are very happy to finally come back to the UK to celebrate the Cuban music and enjoyment of life with the amazing UK audiences! The 14-date tour begins on 3rd February 2022 and ends on 16th February and includes a date at London’s Sadler’s Well on 13th February.
