This week we have a surprise guest teacher from Hungary! 🔥🔥🔥 He will teach falling-floorwork contemporary dance workshop, inspired by martial arts, release, yoga and foor-work techniques!

Class description:
The first part of the workshop focuses on warming up and preparing the body for the exercises. The Floor-Work dimension of the workshop stresses the importance of the weight of the pelvis and of the idea of falling - how to be able to move efficiently, fast but in a controlled way. The second part of the workshop consists of a dancing phrase in continuity with the first part. The end part takes to the form of a leaded improvisation using the learned tools. It is an open level workshop. We will also learn some fun tricks.

It’s the season of giving and our dancers have been on the nice list, so it’s our time to give back ✨ A day filled with workshops, dance, festive vibes and a celebration of another amazing year and all of our dancers who make it possible! With our doors open all day, you’re welcome to come and go, catch a class, hang out, or stay for the whole ride! 🎄But fear not, if you are (still 😉) not a member of our studio, you are more than welcome to join! 🥳

Join us for a floorwork/contemporary program 💃with 🔥🔥🔥

All levels are welcome. Prepare to work deeply, get grounded, and discover a new dimension of movement.

Every Wednesday 21h-22:30h

Bring comfortable clothes which covers knees and shoulders, barre foot recommended.

In this program, we deconstruct movement to its foundations, using the floor as our primary partner. We will work on:

Foundation:
- dancer’s relationship with the floor
- learning efficiently to shift and distribute weight across different body parts and floor
- utilization of the spherical space while grounded
- using swing/momentum and impulse to initiate movement

Grounding & Connectivity:
- praticing isolations and connectivity if the upper and lower halves of the body
- creating wave-like motions through the spine (from tailbone to skull)/spinal articulation
- practice using the skin and body surfaces to feel and connect with the floor

Core Technical Skills:
- controled falling (from standing and from the floor)
- ways of rolling (over the shoulder, diagonal, and barrel rolls), spherical rolls…
- spiraling, using torso to initiate turns, changes of level, and directional shifts..
- sliding/gliding across the floor with fluidity and minimal friction

Other:
- traveling sequences
- usage of space
- directional changes
- level transitions
- phrasing
- fluidity
- dynamics
- introduction to improvisation/personal movement vocabulary
- conditioning/building strength
- mobility/flexibility
- body awareness/injury prevention
- artistic application

The one and only is our new guest teacher 😍✨ She will teach not one but TWO workshops on Sunday (19.10.) giving you an experience that will challenge and inspire the way you move 💫 All dance lovers are welcome, therefore, Tamara will teach an OPEN LEVEL and an ADVANCED (only for dancers with advanced contemporary technique and experience) workshop 🙌🏻

Who is Tamara Pjević (although we already know)?
Tamara Pjević je plesačica savremene igre, pedagoškinja i koreografkinja koja živi i radi u Beogradu. Od 2015. godine stalna je članica Bitef Dance Company pri Bitef teatru, gde je nastupala u predstavama renomiranih umetnika savremene plesne scene, među kojima su Konstanza Macras, Felix Landerer, Dunja Jocić, Jo Strømgren, Isidora Stanišić, Miloš Isailović i mnogi drugi.
Dugi niz godina aktivno sarađuje sa regionalnom nezavisnom plesnom scenom, posebno kroz projekte koje je producirala Stanica– Servis za savremeni ples, u saradnji sa umetnicima kao što su Igor Koruga, Ana Dubljević, Jovana Rakić, Dušan Murić i Marko Milić.
Tamara takođe deluje kao saradnica za scenski pokret u brojnim dramskim predstavama, u produkcijama pozorišta kao što su Bitef teatar, Atelje 212, Narodno pozorište u Beogradu, Jugoslovensko dramsko pozorište i Pozorište „Duško Radović“...
Zaposlena je na Odseku za savremenu igru u baletskoj školi „Lujo Davičo“ u Beogradu. Dobitnica je nagrade „Smiljana Mandukić“ za najbolju scensku interpretaciju.
