With deep sadness, we learned of the passing of Glen Hansard, one of Ireland's most distinctive musicians, songwriters and artists.
His music left a lasting mark on generations of listeners, in Ireland and around the world.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone whose lives he touched.

Pre 14 godina počeli smo od dobre ideje, želje da dodatno povežemo Irsku i Srbiju i filmskog programa.

Ove godine na BIF-u, uz veliku podršku beogradske publike, imali smo 10 dana programa, 40 različitih događaja, dvadesetak umetnika iz Irske, pune sale i zajednicu koja raste iz godine u godinu. Delimo sa vama samo delić fotografija sa ovogodišnjih festivalskih događaja.

Četrnaesti Beogradski irski festival još jednom je pokazalo da je Beograd danas jedno od ključnih mesta susreta savremene irske kulture u Evropi.

14 years ago, we started with a simple idea, a desire to further connect Ireland and Serbia, and a film programme.

This year at BIF, with the great support of the Belgrade audience, we had program throughout the 10 days, 40 different events, around twenty artists from Ireland, full venues, and a community that continues to grow year by year. We are sharing with you just a glimpse of this year’s festival moments.

The 14th Belgrade Irish Festival once again showed that Belgrade is today one of the key meeting points of contemporary Irish culture in Europe.

🍀 „Beogradski irski festival je u nekoliko godina od male smotre postao jedan od bitnijih festivala u Beogradu. To je pokazalo upravo završeno ovogodišnje izdanje nemam pojma kojeg po redu BIF-a. Postoji ta veza i ljubav Srba i Irske. I u ono doba depresivnih devedesetih bile su te proslave St Patricka u Beogradu. Možda su baš u toj deceniji i otpočele.“

🍀 „In just a few years, the Belgrade Irish Festival has turned from a small event into one of the most important festivals in Belgrade. This was shown by this year's edition, which I have no idea which edition it was… There is this bond and love between Serbs and Ireland. Even in the depressed nineties, there were St. Patrick's celebrations in Belgrade. Maybe it started in that decade?“

Završen je 14. Beogradski irski festival.

Mi još uvek sabiramo utiske, a u narednom periodu ćemo ih deliti i sa vama. Do tada, jedno veliko HVALA što ste bili deo ovogodišnjeg BIF-a - publici na neverovatnoj energiji koju nam je prenosila na svakom događaju, a partnerima i sponzorima na poverenju koje nam ukazuju iz godine u godinu. Bez vase podrške ovaj festival ne bi bio moguć.

Inspirisana ratnim godinama Semjuela Beketa koje je proveo u Francuskoj, izložba nas vodi u „La Zone Nono“ – u planine Luberon na jugu Francuske. Kroz fotografije, Svon istražuje tišinu, čekanje i neizvesnost koje su oblikovale Beketov kasniji rad.

📸 The exhibition “La Zone Nono” by Irish photographer Nigel Swan has been extended for another two weeks!

Inspired by the wartime years Samuel Beckett spent in France, the exhibition takes us to “La Zone Nono” — the Luberon mountains in the south of France. Through his photographs, Swan explores silence, waiting, and uncertainty that shaped Beckett’s later work.

See you at the French Institute in Serbia, Knez Mihailova 31, until the end of next week!

The event is organized under the British Council's Culture Connects Grants scheme.

🎬 Nil Džordan dolazi na BIF – i kao reditelj i kao pisac!

Iako je poznatiji kao nagrađivani režiser, koji u svojoj kolekciji priznanja ima i Oskara, Džordan je i pisac. Sa samo 26 godina objavio je svoju prvu zbirku pripovedaka Noć u Tunisu, koja je nagrađena prestižnom književnom nagradom časopisa Gardijan.

📖 Na BIF-u će čitati odlomke iz svog prvog naučnofantastičnog romana „Biblioteka traumatičnih sećanja“, intimne priče o gubitku, sećanjima i ljubavi.

🎬 Neil Jordan is coming to BIF – as both a director and a writer!

Although best known as an award-winning filmmaker, with an Academy Award among his many accolades, Jordan is also an accomplished writer. At just 26, he published his first short story collection Night in Tunisia, which won the prestigious Guardian Fiction Prize.

📖 At BIF, he will read excerpts from his first science fiction novel The Library of Traumatic Memory, an intimate story about loss, memory, and love.

🍀 Martin Binz Vord stiže u Beograd sa monodramom „Kuća mrtvih“

Irski pisac, komičar i autor koji kroz svoj rad daje glas zajednicama sa margine, donosi u Beograd svoju nagrađivanu predstavu – mračnu, duhovitu i bolno tačnu priču o smrti, porodici i identitetu.

Monodrama počinje tako što Patrik, uredno obučen u crne farmerke, crnu majicu, crnu jaknu i crne Čelzi čizme, sedi na jednostavnoj trpezarijskoj stolici i direktno se obraća publici. On je u „Kući mrtvih“ - mestu gde pokojnik leži pre nego što krene na poslednje putovanje ka groblju. Kroz lik Patrika, pripadnika irske zajednice Putnika, Martin nas vodi kroz porodične običaje, emocije i rituale sahrane, koji predstavljaju putovanje kroz irsku kulturu.

🍀 Martin Beanz Warde arrives in Belgrade with the monodrama “The Dead House"

Irish writer, comedian, and performer, known for giving a voice to marginalized communities, brings his award-winning show to Belgrade - a dark, humorous, and painfully honest story about death, family, and identity.

The monodrama opens with Patrick, dressed in black jeans, a black T-shirt, a black jacket, and black Chelsea boots, sitting on a simple dining chair and addressing the audience directly. He is in the “The Dead House” - the place where the deceased lies before beginning their final journey to the graveyard. Through the character of Patrick, a member of the Irish Traveller community, Martin takes us through family customs, emotions, and funeral rituals, offering a powerful journey into Irish culture.
