DISCO NOT DISCO with RECAP

It was all a family-fun package at the final DND of the season last Saturday. DND closed the season with an almost strictly disco set by one of the most dedicated names in the genre. Running the extra mile would be such an understatement. Daniel Wang went above and beyond to keep the attendees entertained, whether it was a dance with the first row or a bongo jam.

We’ve spent years on the disco faculty and again learned so much last Saturday. The only conclusion was there is no bottom in the disco bucket. Just to keep things welcoming to all non-nerds on the topic, Daniel threw a hit here and there.

The concave-up curve that DND drew in a year, from the optimistic relaunch with Tako, all the way down to singular techno from Black Merlin and up again to this moment, was an unforgettable ride!

NEXT STOP in September with a very, very special guest. Till then, have a nice summer, everyone!

heavenphetamine is a duo from Japan composed of Hiroki Oda (keyboard/vocals) and Sara Oda (drums/vocals). Their idiosyncratic style is a blend of elements from krautrock, psychedelia, synthesizer music, postpunk, indie rock, and acid house, with a subtle Japanese flavor. On this occasion, the band will be playing a special improvisational set, with Hiroki and Sara both playing synths and singing.

The couple left their hometown Tokyo in 2021 and have been touring Europe extensively ever since. So far they have played more than 200 shows in 37 countries, bringing their music to all kinds of venues, from squats to major festivals such as Tallinn Music Week, Trans Musicales and Fusion Festival, and performing regularly in the war-torn cities of Ukraine and recording with local musicians. Their first full-length album ‘The Sun on a Winter Day’, recorded in Kyiv amidts air raids and blackouts, was published in August 2024 by the Ukrainian label Kontrabass and issued on vinyl by Macadam Mambo in 2026.

ON FRIDAY, we’re definitely taking it outside. , by now our family, forgot something again after playing in the Chambers for MRAK New Year’s Eve, so she’s coming back to Belgrade. Take It Outside, the party she hosts with Heidi Lawden, has a totally different meaning now as Masha will open our garden alongside Yes chief executive officer, .

ON SATURDAY, take a seat for .dj and on time, who will be crossing the sticks after years of talking about it. Dim’s in-house DJs finally have a chance to earn their wings with birds and neighbors.

The ultimate disco charmer explains his 16-year-old chase for a track played by Tony Humphries. We feel kinda sad for everyone who didn’t experience a similar chase in their life, but, we’re also happy to have the entire history of music-making at our fingertips. A record like “Dream 2 Science”, project of Ben “Cosmo D” Cenac of Newcleus and Gregg Fore, now taken for granted, once infused a 16-year-old itch in a talented rising disco star. Inspiring.
