My name is Yan and I'm a former ballroom dancing instructor now living in Uvita, Costa Rica. Partner dancing is one of the funnest things to do with someone! Yes, it can be challenging at first, but with a great instructor and some practice everyone can learn! I teach many different types of partner dancing, including the most common in Costa Rica - Salsa, Bachata, Merengue - as well as Rumba, Mam
bo, Cha Cha, Samba, Tango, Waltz, Fox Trot, Swing, and Hustle. Whether you're on vacation here and want to just try something fun and new, or perhaps you're a part-time or permanent resident of this beautiful area, I would love to help you learn and enjoy partner dancing! No experience or partner is necessary, just the will to to have fun! (For info on creating your First Dance for your wedding, please see info below). Class duration: 1 hr. (usually last 10-15 min are just dancing what we've learned)
Class price structure:
Private: Single: 12,500 Col. or $25
Couple: 15,000 Col. or $30
Group: 3-6 pers.: 5,000 Col./per. or $10/per.
7+: 3,000 Col./per. or $6/per. (Note: Due to the nature of partner dancing, sometimes there is an unequal number of men and women - usually more ladies! In this situation usually some women will agree to be 'leads' and partner with another woman... guys are usually not as flexible! Anyway, usually things work out and I try to make every effort to have everyone participate that wants to!)
Location: There are a few options here: If you are on vacation, we could arrange to have the lesson at your hotel; if you are a resident here, I would be willing to come to your house. Another fun and rather different option is to have your lesson on a beach... preferrably at low-ish tide! I will provide the sound system and if you have songs you would like to dance to I am able to connect your phone (assuming you have the music on it!)
Attire: Whatever you feel comfortable in that allows you to move :) It is definitely easier to wear shoes rather than sandals! Wedding First Dance: First of all, Congratulations you two!!! Your wedding is of course a special life event and I would love to help you create a beautiful First Dance. We will work together to choreograph your dream dance to your special song. With practice (either with me or on your own) you'll be confident that your First Dance will be a wonderful, memorable event (rather than a nervous and awkward one!) Additionally, for some extra pizzaz :), I can choreograph a group dance routine for you and your wedding party! This of course requires a bit more planning and coordination, but it can be a really fun experience for you and your wedding party :)

Choreography/Song Arrangement: 20,000 Col or $40 for Wedding Couple; 30,000 Col or $60 for Wedding Party Routine. Dance lesson: 15,000 Col/hr. or $30/hr. Pura Vida! See you on the dance floor!
