The indigenous Ngobe-Bugle 'chacara' ('kra' in the Ngabere language) weavers' timeless shoulder bags (unisex) are so durable, they can outlast the wearer! These are traditionally (and still) woven from strands of agave fiber and naturally dyed. More recently, this traditional textile is also created using bought raw material for weaving and analine dyes for the eye-dazzling effect one sees in the image. The geometric motifs are ancestral designs. These women weave 'chacaras' from sizes for a cel phone, to large sizes for carrying babies and larger cargo. Southern Pacific watershed, Costa Rica (as well as western Panama)
