Mike and Joe we’re out and about minding their own business when they came across some skulls on the finca’s property. And how could one possibly turn down such an interesting curio? The gang is cleaning them up and preserving them to add to their slowly growing natural history collection. One is a monkey’s skull, either from a capuchin, howler or spider monkey, and the other is likely from a coati. Kind of creepy, but equally cool and beautiful. Death is just part of the circle of life friends.

A friend needed some help cutting down a huge clump of yellow bamboo, and as a thank you we got to keep as much of it as we wanted! It’s one of the most sustainable building materials and is great for making furniture, floors, walls, you name it! Now that’s what we call a win-win!

Part of our sustainable journey is upcycling as much of our building materials as possible!

We were lucky enough to have local friends provide with loads of wood and other materials that have come in super handy to build our compost loo!

But we need a few dry days for the ground to harden and dry before the tanks can go in and we are currently in the wet season so wish us luck! *nervous laughter*

Wobbly walls are making our days more exciting and unpredictable but hey, that's Pura Vida!

Team 'Repair the broken wall' jumped into full gear and aced making the locations safe for our precious water tanks, when you have no running water in the house it makes you appreciate how precious water really is. Like seriously damn precious!

Collecting rain water is a fantastic way for us to be off grid and to move towards our self sustainable dreams but the old water catchment systems at the house were pretty naff and definitely wasn't collecting enough water to keep us all hydrated!

So... we're upgrading the water catchment of the house which means doing some ground works which has proven to be slightly more eventful than we imagined!!
