I’ve been pokey at getting back to art. I’ve done a few little (silly) projects and finished one good one. But I have been wishy-washy on what I want to do going forward. I have so many interests and so many ideas, not to mention so many supplies I’ve acquired for these various visions, but they have left me feeling unfocused and somewhat unmotivated. I’m trying to listen to that inner voice and learn what I am supposed to do next instead of seeing something, saying that I want to learn that technique, ordering more supplies, and then repeating the process.
I think (think!) I’ve set course finally. I’m going to focus next on some Celtic-inspired mixed media projects. I “acquired” some art papers and other Celtic art supplies that I feel particularly inspired by and drawn to (along with some crow items 😎). I’ve got ideas for 4-6 projects currently. There won’t be any holiday-themed breaks. No Halloween art. No Christmas art. I need to stay focused.
After that, I have a fluid art project in mind to hang over our fireplace. I will be attempting a tree swipe, a technique demonstrated by Nate Brite Art. (Go check them out on his YouTube channel!!) That will require a few practices at least on a smaller scale. I may incorporate the use (my first) of powdered pigments. I got those last year, but I need a few items to work with them.
When that is finished, I have supplies for more jewelry (including bracelets & brooches this time), book marks, and Christmas ornaments (for next year). Whew. By then, I may be able to mix it up and go with the flow again. 🤣
Gel prints & alcohol inks were on the agenda, but have been bumped for now. This is one of the Celtic papers I got. I burned the edges to give a more rugged look. I find this very inspiring.
