The layered look designed for Yana Mann’s performance at The Theatre at Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is like the yellow pages: an open, yellow book, suiting the venue. One in which you write the names and adresses of the bars you want to visit, and then you highlight them even further with a yellow marker. Like the bars in which Julian de la Chica’s scenes take place and the verses Yana sings about, hydrated in Absynthe and Chartreuse liqueur.
Her voice might be sorrow, piercing in the dark; but, her image is placed further along in time, perhaps in the distant future even. The brand’s crea- tive director, Oscar Ruiz-Schmidt expands further on the designs:
‘The structural ability of silk organza, along with its transparency, allows for our original watercolor sketches to come to life. Three geometry-based gar- ments conform the look; firstly, a Three Panel draped liquid neon charmeuse satin silk, a staple in the Obra Gris alphabet, with added layers of organza, and a trench coat from our TENFOLD collection, reinterpreted and over- sized with an added movement value in the cuts, to enhance Yana’s poetic presence and movement.
