La Rose Art Studios

La Rose Art Studios Illustrated clip art and fine art prints My name is Leyla and I am the sole owner and illustrator of La Rose Art Studios.

Since childhood, I’ve had a deep love for art and nature and spent years in art school finding my style. When I became a mother I still had this powerful urge to create but had to work with the constraints of life with small children - like working in small windows of time while the kids were sleeping. So I began a practice of daily drawing (every day, whether I was in the mood or not), which has

developed into the huge collection of graphics in my shop today! Now I am overjoyed to watch other creative-by-nap mothers, crafty dreamers, and entrepreneurs use my graphics in their own creative projects. I put my heart and soul into creating things of high quality and detail and I wish that they will bring success and beauty to your life.

Saturday at Oxford market!

For something new, at my second market of the season I brought some new block printed journals and notebooks.

My son Oscar also set up at a corner of my table with his own beautiful stamped and coloured bookmarks. And he sold out! 👏 Proud of this very artistic kid and looking forward to see what he makes next.

These large notebook/journals are 11"×8.5" and lined, with flexible craft paper covers. I'll have a few with me at the Oxford market this Saturday, along with a couple other new things.
Hope to see you there!

Had a great time at the Oxford market on Saturday.

Fun side note: my big boy Augustus came along and helped me for the day. He did the heavy lifting and kept track of all the math and it was wild to think how he was with me at my very first market around 11 years ago - in the baby carrier! 🤯

Big thank you everyone who came out and supported the market and my art! 🤍

I've been busy over here printing looots of art cards! Here are a few of the new botanical stamps I carved recently. The plants in this set are all wild medicinals. ✨️

I'll have these, as well as a bunch of other prints, at the Oxford market this Saturday (June 6th).

A  customer sent me photos of her mobile coffee trailer decorated with my wild rose illustrations! 👏😃

She turned the designs into vinyl cutouts for the side of the trailer, and also used them as decorative details on the menu and service window.

The flowers really fit the cafe's elegant vibe and she did a great job integrating them and bringing it all together. It turned out so nice and is so cool to see!

Shout out to , I wish you lots of success! ✨️

Dandelion! The next stamp I am working on. 💛

A little about my carving process: I usually begin by cutting the outline with a super fine exacto blade. That gives me a clean outline to start with and it is much easier to control than the other tools. Then I carve out the inner details and textures with a fine speedball carving tool, which is almost like sketching but in reverse (removing the negative space). And lastly, I remove the background space with a wider blade. After I test the print, I'll keep removing more of the background until I get a really clean print every time.

Leaving some of the background imperfections can give more of an artsy, rough look, which I also appreciate, but I tend to remove all of mine.

I'm looking forward to growing my collection of wild medicinal plants stamps and playing with them!

Working on the next stamp in my carved flower series: fireweed!

I draw this illustration for my clip art shop awhile ago and it remains one of my favourites. It's fun to bring it to life as a stamp now! 😊

I've scaled the design to be just the right size to print on art cards. But I also really want to try printing a tote bag with many wild flowers together on it. Stay tuned!

A customer had my juniper twig illustrations engraved into a leather tarot pouch and a matching leather journal!

I love how they turned out, really subtle and elegant on the dark leather.

It’s nice to think these designs are with someone as part of their personal daily reflections and rituals. 🤍✨️

I've started carving my next stamp from one of my botanical illustrations, a wild rose branch this time.

First I transfered the printed design onto the rubber, then begin carving away the negative space. It takes a lot of patience and attention to detail, especially around the fine line shading.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this one turns out, and how it will look printed on art cards and fabric! 🌹
