Dear Friends and Global Family,
This is the story of our Grateful Retreats chef’s assistant/ business partner. Katia made and served us beautiful nutritious meals for a week in Costa Rica in January and her presence in the kitchen was an important part of the experience we all enjoyed.
A native Costa Rican, she is making her life better for herself and her teenaged daughter by working with Liz (Luz “light” as the locals call her) to prepare meals and raise awareness for local need through Pachamama's Way.
When Luz told me in her own words about Katia’s condition, she said, “We don’t ask for much in this life. We take care of each other and we take care of the planet and we don’t ask for much in return. Right now we have to call in a big miracle.” When I heard this it was like her heart spoke directly to mine. All over the world good people - often women - serve others (their communities, the earth) and ask for so little in return. I wish for Katia and for all of us that when we reach out a hand, the world meets us with that miracle!
Katia has already received many blessings from the universe on this journey. There is a surgeon who is willing to perform this life-saving brain surgery. Not only that, but he has reduced the cost of it by $10k! He really wants to do the surgery because he truly believes he can help her. They believe that after the surgery, she will have a clean bill of health and be able to live out the rest of her natural life.
Truly, the miracles are being granted. The one left right now that we can help with is to get her the money she needs for the surgery.
If you are able, please consider donating and/or sharing her story so Katia can continue showing up as mother, friend, and light in the world 🙏🏼
Gratefully,
Laura
