PolyHum es una banda colombiana de rock que se formó en Medellín, Antioquia, en 2012. El grupo está conformado por Natalia Carrasquilla (voz), Sebastián Ramírez (guitarrista rítmico y bajo), Maximiliano Sánchez (guitarra solista) y Felipe Sánchez (batería). El nombre de la banda se origina de las palabras Poly y Hum; la primera se debe no sólo a la variedad de profesiones que tienen los miembros
de la banda, sino también al videojuego Polybius, conocido por los diferentes sonidos, gráficas con colores vivos y efectos luminosos que fueron de gran atracción en los años 80. La palabra Hum simboliza un sonido de ondas que avanzan, causado por la retroalimentación de frecuencias bajas producidas por feedback y su poder para estimular a los oyentes. Hay músicos que han hecho parte de la historia de PolyHum, pero han seguido persiguiendo sus propios sueños musicales; otros músicos han llegado a emprender su propia historia con la banda y, a pesar de estos cambios, la banda sigue llamándose PolyHum. Nuestro recorrido de aventuras musicales nos ha llevado a tocar en diferentes lugares: Hard Rock Café, Ozzy Bar en Bogotá, cobalto Bar en Chía, Barnaby Jones Bar en Envigado, Hamburgo Bar en el Lleras, y en muchos otros lugares del área Metropolitana de Medellín. Buscamos abrir nuestras fronteras musicales y compartir esta pasión que tenemos por la música en muchos otros lugares de la geografía nacional e internacional. PolyHum is a Colombian rock band that was formed in Medellín, Antioquia, in 2012. The group is made by: Natalia Carrasquilla (vocals), Sebastián Ramírez (bass and rhythm guitar ), Maximiliano Sánchez (lead guitar), and Felipe Sánchez (drums). The name of the band originates from the blend of two words: Poly and Hum; the first word stems not only from the various professions of the band members, but also from the Polybius video game, known for the different sounds, vivid colored graphs, and luminescent effects that were very attractive in the 80s. The word Hum symbolizes an advancing soundwave, caused by the feedback of low frequencies and its power to stimulate all those who listen. There are musicians that have joined PolyHum’s story, but have pursued their own musical dreams; other musicians have joined the band in order to make their own story with the band, and even through all these changes, the band has kept its name: PolyHum. Our musical adventure path has taken us to play in different venues: Hard Rock Café, Ozzy Bar in Bogotá, Cobalto Bar in Chía, Barnaby Jones Bar in Envigado, Hamburgo Bar in the Lleras Park, and many other places of Medellín’s Metro area. We seek to broaden our musical frontiers and share this passion we feel for music in many other places nationally and abroad.
