Curated in the first-floor salon of the AMBELIE Shanghai showroom, this space is a homage to Yves Saint Laurent’s vivid sanctuary in Marrakech.

A pair of blue lounge chairs awakens an exotic sense of color. Lush greenery engages in a beautiful dialogue with an entire wall of opulent hand-painted wallpaper from de Gournay.

At the center, a pietra dura coffee table showcases rare stones meticulously crafted by master artisans into immortal wings and floral branches. Suspended overhead, a delicate Fortuny silk lamp casts an ethereal, dreamlike glow, softly bathing the entire room.

In a quiet corner, a magnificent Coromandel(Kuancai) screen serves as a dramatic backdrop for a classic French antique chair, creating a deeply intimate vignette.

This 1970s British coffee table brings an ingenious solution to the modern living space. Beneath its transparent glass top lie three wooden nesting stools, ready to be pulled out for extra seating when hosting guests, or seamlessly stored away for an architectural look.

Crafted with nothing but wood and glass, it balances natural warmth with sleek, geometric lines. A truly versatile piece for the minimalist interior.

An elegant Asian two-panel standing screen from the 19th century, meticulously detailed with mother-of-pearl inlay.

Crafted with extraordinary patience, this traditional technique utilizes the natural iridescence of shells to capture and reflect light, bringing a subtle glow to the intricate motifs. The classic landscape and bird-and-flower scenes are not merely decorative—they symbolize an idealized retreat, celebrating harmony, auspiciousness, and the quiet vitality of nature.

A striking example of Japanese Nanga painting by Imaōji Yūzan, a celebrated pupil of Nakabayashi Chikutō known for his powerful brushwork and grand compositions.

Unlike Western painting, the Nanga school emphasizes spirit over exact realism. Here, Yūzan depicts the timeless ”Three Friends of Winter“ alongside a vigilant eagle. The resilient plum, the solitary eagle on a rugged pine, and the elegant bamboo are not merely observed from nature, but painted from the mind.

They stand as ultimate literati symbols—representing purity, noble pride, and humility.

Curated on the third floor of our historic mansion, this dining space is a tribute to Valentino’s enduring love for Eastern art.

Bridging the designer’s Italian roots with his fascination for the East, the room layers European modernism against profound Asian heritage. A 1950s Italian dining table serves as the centerpiece, paired with Pietro Arosio ‘Impronta’ chairs.

Providing a serene, golden backdrop is a Meiji period six-panel screen by Maeda Kōka, placed alongside an archival sandalwood console table. Nearby, a traditional Chinese ‘Official’s Hat‘ armchair, a black lacquer mother-of-pearl cabinet, and a Fortuny silk lamp seamlessly complete this cross-cultural narrative.

A Classic Chinese ‘Official’s Hat‘ Armchair, crafted entirely from solid wood, pairs architectural stability with fluid, sweeping lines.

The back splat features exquisite carvings of geometric wan fretwork and an auspicious deer. In traditional culture, this specific pairing is highly symbolic, carrying profound wishes for abundant wealth, prosperity, and enduring good fortune.

A curated workspace inspired by Giorgio Armani.

At its center, an Italian Art Deco parchment table pairs with a Vico Magistretti high-back chair. Positioned on opposite walls, two Japanese landscape screens engage in a quiet visual dialogue. This balanced arrangement is elegantly anchored by a traditional Chinese console table and a finely crafted mother-of-pearl inlaid cabinet.

A classic Art Deco style parchment side table.

The beauty of this piece lies in its parchment top. Through a meticulous process of applying, polishing, and waxing the treated skin, the surface takes on a soft, semi-translucent glow. It’s a technique made famous by French Art Deco masters like Jules Leleu, André Arbus, and Jean-Michel Frank, who loved pairing it with dark wood, metal, or black lacquer for a sharp, elegant contrast.

Beneath the surface, three gracefully curved legs converge towards a central decorative sphere, creating a fluid, sculptural silhouette.
