Notification: Application Deadline for the 6th CSIPC Postponed
Dear applicants:

According to the decision result of the 6th CSIPC Organizing Committee, the original application deadline of 1st July, 2012 is now postponed to 25th July, 2012 (postmark serving as proof). The pre-selection result will be announced on 10th August, 2012.

The Best Performance for Chinese Commissioned Work: 1,000 USD and Certificate of Award for 1 contestant
The Best Performance for Lieder: 1,000 USD and Certificate of Award for 1 contestant
The Best Chinese Contestant Prize: 1,000 USD and Certificate of Award for 1 contestant
The Organizing Committee will arrange engagements for the 1st and 2nd prize winners to be performed in 2013 and 2014.

Performing Requirements:
1. Repertoire in each round may not be repeated.
2. If requested, pianists must supply a copy of the full edition of the score used in the preparation of the contestant's chosen pieces performed
to the jury.
3. All works except the commissioned work must be played from memory.
4. Candidates cannot make any further changes to the repertoire confirmed on August 1st .
The Commissioned Work:
The Organizing Committee will commission a major Chinese composer to write a new work of about 5 minutes in length to be performed by
competitors in the Semifinal. The commissioned work will be sent to competitors approximately two months prior to the competition. The
semi-final round of the competition will be the world premiere of the commissioned work.

Repertoire
Preliminary:
25 to 30 minutes in length, consisting of the following works:
1. An etude by Chopin (excluding Op.10 No. 3, No. 6, and Op. 25 No. 7)
2. An etude by any of the following: Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Bartok, Stravinsky or Ligeti
3. A sonata (the first movement or an allegro movement) by any of the following: Haydn, Mozart, Schubert or Beethoven
4. One or two composition(s) of the candidate's choice
Quarterfinal:
40 to 45 minutes in length, consisting of the following works:
1. A complete sonata by Beethoven (excluding Op. 49 No. 1, Op. 49 No.2, and Op. 79)
2. One or more composition(s) of the candidate's choice
Semifinal:
45 to 50 minutes in length, consisting of the following works:
1. Two Lieder (to be performed with singer): and by Richard Strauss
2. A commissioned work (approximately 5 minutes)

Rules and Procedures for Competition
1. The competition will consist of four separate rounds. The jury will not advance more than 42 candidates to the Preliminary or more than 12 to
the Quarterfinal, or more than 6 to the Semifinal, or more than 3 to the Final.
2. The order of appearance of candidates will be determined by a drawing. In principle, the competition will follow this order throughout the whole
schedule. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make adjustments to the appearance order in case of accidents such as illness.
3. The results of each round will be announced after its completion. The decision of the Jury is final and cannot be reviewed.
4. Contestants may not contact any member of the jury as long as they continue to participate in the competition. Any violation of this rule may
disqualify the contestant in question.
5. In case of force majeure resulting in the cancellation of the competition, the Organizing Committee shall not undertake any responsibility.

Visa and Insurance:
Given a competition final notification and an official invitation letter from the Organizing Committee, foreign contestants may apply for visa in the
nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate. The visa fee is at the contestant's expense. The Organizing Committee will purchase personal accident
insurance for the contestants during the competition period. But costs of other insurances should be covered by contestants themselves.
Recording and broadcasting:
The CSIPC presenters have the right, without payment of any fee, to photograph, record, videotape, film, broadcast on TV, radio and internet
during each round of the competition, including the opening ceremony concert, the awards ceremony concert, concert series after competition
and any other events related to the competition. The copyrights of all the photos, recordings of the performance of these events belong
exclusively to the CSIPC Organizing Committee. Contestants will be required to sign on the application form yielding all rights mentioned above
to the Organizing Committee.
The contestants must agree not to participate any performance which is not organized by the Organizing Committee during competition period.

Travel and Accommodation:
1. Rules for the contestants' traveling allowance: Accepted contestants from Europe, America, Australia or Africa (according to his/her resident
place) will be given $500 USD for traveling allowance by the Organizing Committee. Contestants from other Asian countries, China's Taipei,
Hong Kong and Macau (according to his/her resident place) will be given $250 USD for traveling allowance. Contestants from Mainland China
(according to his/her resident place, except Shanghai) will be given 500 RMB for traveling allowance.
Contestants who meet the above requirements must provide receipt of transportation to the Organizing Committee.
2. The Organizing Committee will provide accommodations only to the accepted contestants from the registering day till:
Preliminary Contestants: the next morning after completion of Preliminary
Quarterfinalists: the next morning after completion of Quarterfinal
Semifinalists and Finalists: the next morning after Awards Ceremony
3. The Organizing Committee will not cover the accommodations fees for anyone other than the contestants themselves. For contestants aged
below 18, the Organizing Committee will provide accommodations for only 1 legal guardian. Contestants who give up the competition after
registration should cover their own accommodation fees and shall receive no traveling allowance.
4. International contestants may choose to stay in host families able to provide accommodations, meals, practice and transportations between
home and venues. The Organizing Committee will make arrangements upon rule 2 and rule 3. Contestants shall be responsible for all the
accommodations, meals and transportations once they quit the competition. Since host families accommodation is still in experimental stage,
the Organizing Committee will accept some contestants, request and reserve the final interpretation right.
