Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival was jointly initiated in 2015 by the Founder of Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, Rong Rong, and the Director of Les Rencontres d'Arles, Sam Stourdzé, who serve as Co-directors of the festival. In 2016, the Jimei x Arles international Photo Festival gathered an audience of more than 50 000 visitors around forty exhibitions, including eight exhibitions
travelling from Arles. In 2017, for the third year in a row, the festival will appoint Bérénice Angremy, the co-founder of DIAF and Caochangdi Photospring art festivals, former cultural attaché at the French embassy in China, as festival director. From November 24th to January 3rd, the festival will bring more than 16 exhibitions in Xiamen. In the opening week, a series of special events will be held, including PhotoFolio Review, lectures, master classes, and screenings.
