Xi'an Symphony Orchestra The Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, led by Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Dane Lam, provides a full season of concerts for the city of Xi'an.

Based in the world-leading Xian Concert Hall (www.xianch.com), the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra plays a range of the cornerstones of Western symphonic music, opera, as well as light classics and popular music. Under the dynamic leadership of recently appointed Principal Conductor and Artistic Director, Dane Lam, the orchestra enjoys regular collaborations with renowned soloists and conductors and play

s a full concert season to audiences in Xi'an and on tour, both within China and abroad. XSO is the resident orchestra of Xi'an's state-of-the-art, 1300-seat concert hall and orchestra members also play chamber music recitals in its intimate "White Hall" chamber music space. It serves the cultural mecca of Xi'an, one of the world's most ancient cities, home of the famed Terracotta Warriors and the start of the Silk Road. With a population of over 8 million people, orchestra members will have access to a bustling metropolis in one of the major global economies.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Hong Kong-British conductor, Jonathan Lo, as Principal Guest Conductor of the orchestra. Jonathan was chosen after a competitive process involving rehearsals and concerts with the XSO and we are pleased to welcome him to Xi'an. He will be working in consultation with Principal Conductor, Dane Lam, to continue the development of the XSO in its mission to share engaging, transformative music with the people of Xi'an, Shaanxi and those further afield in a repertoire spanning the the Western canon, film, opera, and traditional Chinese symphonic music. Exciting times for our young organisation.

Our city is one of the world's oldest with more than 3000 years of history. Tonight we add to this rich tapestry of culture by performing Verdi's la Traviata. Exploring universal themes of love, jealousy and loss, La Traviata justly belongs to all the world's people. We're joined by sensational singers including Liine Carlsson, Mario Zhang and Chenye Yuan to bring this masterpiece to Xi'an.
