"During the TNT workshop 'The Living Voice', held from November 3rd to 7th, participants entered a different kind of working process — one that begins in the body and moves toward something like a reawakening.
When Thomas and the members of TNT began to sing the ancient songs from the Caribbean and Africa, even without knowing the meaning of the words, something became perceptible through the voice — as if carried from old lands, from air that had travelled through centuries, from the chests of those who came before. When the first member started to sing, a state appeared that was neither sorrow nor joy. It felt as if the body opened, was touched, was called. A long-hidden gate opened slightly, and what had been heavy or unnamed began to leave quietly, often through tears.
Our bodies became empty vessels. Through the songs we found connection — with ourselves, with one another, and with something larger. A force, both simple and direct, began to rise. The layers of the 'small self', with their daily tensions and protective shells, loosened and washed away as we sang and cried.
We sang many songs. Each person gave their full vitality — not only through the voice, but through the spine, the bones, the blood. As attention settled, movement no longer required thought; flow began to appear on its own. We felt warmth at the fingertips, light rising in the chest, and the vibration of the ground through the feet. We were no longer separate individuals, but one breathing, moving organism.
Someone laughed, and others followed. A single tear could move through the entire group. It felt like bees resonating in the same hive — vibrating together, moving together, linked.
Over these days, our bodies woke up again. They absorbed energy, released sound, and responded to the world. Fragments of the self seemed to reconnect and take on light.
In the workshop 'The Living Voice', we did not only work on techniques of singing or performing. We worked on how the body can speak, how life can find expression, and how, in a simple and concrete way, we may learn to live."
