Live now: Maelstrom featured by “Mars Digital Art” Exhibition at Beijing National Stadium

Opening on February 7, 2026, at the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), the “Mars Digital Art Exhibition” presents a visionary cultural action that merges the technological rigor of Chinese aerospace with the romantic imagination of science fiction. Curated by science fiction writer Yin Guang, the exhibition explores how collective human emotions and cultural expressions might evolve as civilization expands toward the red planet. By utilizing the lower gravity of Mars as a conceptual backdrop, the show challenges audiences to redefine life forms and the meaning of progress beyond Earth’s boundaries. This immersive experience creatively transforms science fiction IPs into a “distributed narrative,” inviting visitors to interact with future Martian memory fragments and witness a bold preview of humanity’s inter-planetary future.

Revisiting Maelstrom show at PSEG Shenzhen this Fall.

This spatial instrument/audio-visual installation invites people to navigate through chaos, and communicate with the interactive environment with the language of music and sound. Immersing the audience in the vortex of visual and sounds, it presents a journey of a sailor in a maelstrom of messages, reflecting the sensory overloading issue of nowadays daily life.

“Digital Archipelagos”resembles a growing constellation of inspiration islands, delivering a multimedia, multi-dimensional "tech+art" experience.
As the beginning volume, "Digital Aquarium" invites you to not just see, but 'feel' a full-sensory 'site-seeing' journey.
Presenting AI-generated art, behavioral installations, and interactive visuals across mixed media, the exhibition collectively explores how digital art reshapes notions of 'embodiment' and 'polysensoriality'.

The exhibition has been live since Oct 2024 till May 7 2025. In the first chapter "Expansion on Sounds and voices", the audio visual installation Maelstrom raise questions upon cognition and sensory overload in the current age of messages, by plumbing the audience into an ever evolving vortex of sound and visual, offering musical language as a way to communicate with the chaotic environment.

Maelstrom is a spatial instrument and audio-driven installation. Guided by responsive and repetitive musical patterns in chaos, we navigate the vortex of sensory overload. Audio guides movement and movement reshapes audio – the interactive music progression unfolds as a spatial structure for all sensory elements, augmenting cognition and decision.

The AlloSphere (three stories, 26 projectors, & 54.1 Channels of sound.) is a large-scale instrument created as an environment to deliver rich, coherent, interactive, high-resolution 3D video and audio streams from massive scientific datasets is a complex computational and systems engineering task that continues to involve faculty across a variety of disciplines.
