10 Million On-Site Viewers, 10 Billion Online Impressions! Why Is "It" Repeatedly Mentioned in the Government Work Report?
As the Two Sessions proceed, Chongqing’s drone light show has become a hot topic—it was for the first time linked to the city’s cultural and tourism report and included in the Government Work Report. This "new business card" in the night sky has aroused widespread concern among deputies.
Municipal People's Congress Deputy Guan Hong, Deputy Commander of the Drone Light Show Command, marked the line "Drone light shows have become a hit IP for urban cultural tourism" in the report. "Being written into the report fills us with excitement, and this topic has resonated at the meeting," he said.
As the world’s first regular 5,000-drone performance in a mega-city, the New Charm of Chongqing show has been staged 69 times since April 2025, attracting 10 million on-site viewers. Its success lies in multi-dimensional innovation: drones have a positioning error within 2 centimeters and can resist 6-7 Beaufort scale winds; themes update weekly, creating constant hits.
Statistics show its omni-media reach has approached 10 billion person-times, with over 300 million overseas impressions, boosting Chongqing’s reputation. The "sky effect" has driven cultural tourism consumption—Nan'an District received 5.46 million tourists last year (227,000 inbound, up 78%), and Nanbin Road restaurants had an over 70% full occupancy rate, according to Deputy Lei Wang.
The 2026 Government Work Report plans to upgrade the platform. Guan Hong revealed that laser, strobe and flashing lights will be added, along with large night airships and dome screens, to turn the "new business card" into a "golden one".
During the Year of the Horse Spring Festival (Feb 15-22), the show will light up the Two Rivers and Four Banks at 8:30 PM daily, continuing to inject vitality into Chongqing’s high-quality development.
