TONIGHT!
Will be a special Guilt Free Cin. Club, running in partnership with INFERNOs Sinema.
We will be screening the 1922 Swedish silent horror film "Haxan." It will be screened in full FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER with Chinese intertitles (as well as in English and Swedish). We know this because we had to make them (shout out to Nico)...
Haxan was the basis of the recent Shanghorror Fest. The movie is a faux documentary about the history of witches. This goes from historic documentation, to some very twisted dark arts. It's extremely graphic and was banned in many territories for decades. If your only silent film experience is seeing Charlie Chaplin, this will blow your s**t.
As it's a cross-over event, and in a metal bar, we (I've long been a king) have decided that the soundtrack for this otherwise silent movie is going to be two maligned combination albums back-to-back.
They are:
-David Allan Coe and Cowboys From Hell - "Rebel Meets Rebel"
Cowboys From Hell is Pantera minus Phil Anselmo, and David Allan Coe is the outlaw country "long-haired redneck." This country metal record was ignored, but was Dimebag's last and is a hot-as-hell Americana highway record.
-Lou Reed and Metallica - Lulu
This much maligned record was Uncle Lou's last and lead to much questioning of Lars and co. after "Death Magnetic." F**k the haters. It's squaler sound cinema, with Reed and Hetfield playing a variety of desperate characters falling apart like a broken home. "I am the table," yes, yes, and also gnarly s**t.
This won't be the full Guilt Free Cin. Experience, but a fun hang out with friends. Consider it!
It's happening on Tuesday, August 24 at INFERNO. The movie will start at 8:30, but to line things up, the music will start at 8:10pm as an overture. FREE ENTRANCE and with a happy hour until 9pm.
