『WEIYU New Woman Interview』Lin Xiru: Anchorwoman loves art collection too

TVB news anchor, campus icon of Zhejiang University of Media and Communication, intellectual, elegant, Lin Xiru seems to be born with an artistic temperament. She loves Piet Cornelies Mondrian and Mary Mcdonald, beautiful things are powerfully attractive to her.

Q: You have worked in TVB for three years. Could you please share with us your experience?
A: I learned Broadcast and Emcee art in college, which is unusually competitive, especially in appearance. I grew up in Guangzhou, so I speak Cantonese, this is one of the reasons that I became the very first undergraduate recruited by TVB in mainland. I worked as a reporter, reporting news from policy to livelihood, sometimes sport. The politic institution in Hong Kong is totally different from mainland, and I have never studied reporting systematically in college before, so this job makes me faced with great challenges. Also, it’s definitely a rare chance for me to learn new things.

In my 3-year reporter career, I’ve taken part in the election of Hong Kong chief executive, have seen how the current chief executive Leung Chun-ying’s nickname”689” came out, have witnessed the general election of Hong Kong Legislative Council. My microphone has collected countless final declarations of candidates. I have stood on a crane to do live report of Tang Yingnian’s personal mansion. The corrupt official in central government finally got punishment, which gave my long-term dogged reporting a perfect closure.

Every single day of this 3-year means a new beginning for me, tough through it is, I take this experience as my large fortune. Thanks to my reporter career, I become more visionary, more passionate, more confident and more object when I brave various difficulties in daily life.

Q: Do you have favorite artist or art work?
A: In western country, I prefer Piet Cornelies Mondrian and Mary Mcdonald, because I love lines and colors with great design taste. KAIKAIKIKI Flower of Takashi Murakami is excellent as well, the bright and light color makes me feel happy at once.

Q: Would you read books about art?
A: Yes, I like photos, books and TV shows about interior design. I think Mary Mcdonald combines the elegance of old world with the sensibility of modern society well. Those bold patterns and Chinese style of her are iconic gorgeous and fearless.

Q: Would you go to the exhibitions? Which kind of them do you prefer?
A: There is Art Basel in Hong Kong every year, which attracts hundreds of top galleries all around the world. You can see many masterpieces of painting, sculpture and photography. Every time I go I would keep humble and be ready to be shocked. Also, I love exhibitions of ancient ceramic and photography, because every single ancient ceramic reflects the epitome of an age; every single photo tells a touching story.

Q: Speaking of collection, how do you make a choose?
A: For me, collection is an enjoy of beauty, a conversation with history. Young artist’s work is a fine choice for new collectors, which tests collector’s vision and brings great market potential.

Q: How do you think of the connection of art quality and personal temperament? For girls, especially elegant and intellectual girl like you, temperament must be very important. Do you have any suggestion?
A: Art is divided into music, painting, literature, design and movie... All of them can spawn moments of deep thought. This habit of keep thinking and life interests are the best gifts that art gives us, which is rather important for girls in modern society. Try to get close to art as possible as we can, visiting more exhibitions, reading more art books... You can finally calm down and find out who you really are.

Girls love art always have a kind of self-evident beauty, always keep self-confidence. Now she works in Yao Foundation, but her love for art and collection would never fade out.

『WEIYU Female Artist Interview』Shen Chaolei: Walking Through the Three Dimensional Space

In a certain space, at a certain time, installation artists create a different world, an ego’s universe, may be strange, but familiar at the same time. These art installations meet the physical and mental demands of contemporary people. Everyone has their won feeling and experience toward art installations.

In today’s interview, installation artist Shen Chaolei, would bring us into her unique 3D art space.

In April last year, Shen Chaolei presented her work Pupation on the “Light&Shadow” exhibition hold by WEIYU Art. Pupation is an exploration of the language between light and object, the three pieces are interlinked, show a process from pupa to butterfly under light with different angle.

Shen Chaolei: Combine the ready-made, idea and material together, make a collage of space with different scenes.
To deconstruct and reconstruct the traditional window by space collage with the smell of futurism, meanwhile Shen Chaolei discusses the possibility of the deformation of human living space. This work also suggests the challenge that physical object is facing with under the trend of new media. I integrate my imagination of life scene into my work, in I put black clouds through the old-fashion window, and the clouds seem to sparkle after burning. The superposition of big space and small space, and the transformation of outer space and inner space, are all hidden in the clouds and star sky, forming a fixed moment.

-------- Note for Fixed Moment

Shen Chaolei: is the derivative work of Fixed Moment, is the dyeing trace left by the cloud in the Fixed Moment. Through the control of the direction and color, there comes out a new ink creation.

-------- Note for There is no Rule for Trace

----Q&A---

Q: Why do you choose art?
A: It is a natural process. My parents lead me to learn calligraphy for ten years since I was a child. But I prefer painting all the time, actually the two of them are related, are all the expressions of pattern and formal language. Since I began to study painting, I gradually found out that I want to take art as my career. It’s like you keep standing on a single point and one day you find a wider space. I had fun and feel passion in this space.

Q: Why do you choose installation art? How do you see the position of installation art in contemporary art environment?
A: My undergraduate studies were public art, installation art direction. Installation is one of the personal expressions for art. And I find that I am more liken to show my thoughts by those more comprehensive materials and language.

Installation is more like an art development, breaks a lot of limits. Our works have more freedom to organize language and express in various ways, which tells people that this world can be seen in another angle.

Q: What’s your next move?
A: Art and Art curation. At present, I take part in all kinds of art space exhibition and project planing, meanwhile I keep doing art creation.

『WEIYU Female Artist Interview』 Jin Beier: I hope what I paint is an independent world

Artist’s studio is like the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland, leads us to a fantastic world that is totally different from real life. How special is it? How many secrets behind an artist’s studio? Today, WEIYU is going to interview Jin Beier, a very young female artist.

Recently, Two graduation pieces of Jin Beier were chosen to be displayed on the China Academy of Art Party which is jointly hosted by WEIYU Art and HIHEY Art. She is going to tell us about her inspiration for artistic creation.

The state of art is where I carry on consciousness activity, which is a space, a dimension that I create by myself. When you face a mirror, you see the inverted image of yourself, when you face the reality, you see the inverted image of the truth. The representation of painting comes form life; it connects to reality. I mean to create an independent world, which is a projection of my heart when I face the world. We rely on our times very much, somehow we want to get rid of it in the meantime. Paintings are based on the environment, the existence of humanity is too weak to almost disappear in the scenery and become a part of it.

——Q&A——

1.Q: Why do you choose to major in art in the first place?
A: I was born this way...

2.Q: You have studied in China Academy of Art for four years, what have you reaped?
A: I think this four-year is my best time in life. I feel so lucky to get into such a artistic environment where I can release those things that hided in my body for many years. I was given enough freedom to throw myself into art. Of course the daily sketching practice improves me a lot on the basic training. But the way of thinking and cultural accomplishment are the greatest gain of all during my studying in CAA.

3 Q: Your work makes people feel in a multidimensional space. Do you think yourself is a emotional person?
A: Take an envelop as an example, the external part is emotional, but what inside is rational. As for the multidimensional space, I have always been obsessed with it. Well, I keep explaining to myself about my understanding towards time and space, about four dimensional space. I try to express and prove what I was thinking while painting. Sounds not that emotional, ah? Haha.

4.Q: What does art mean to you?
A: It means NOT ALONE to me. Only art that can keep me company forever.
It means “Moral Law” to me as well, which leads me to self-examination and
remain harmonious within. Also, I consider painting as an expression, like talking, I would definitely be bored badly if without painting.

5.Q: You are school-sponsored postgraduate this year. Do you have a new plan for your art career?
A: Earlier when I was preparing for graduation, I had this feeling, I am a person with responsibility and mission! But soon this feeling is processed by time. Now I calm down, noticed that I still need to keep on painting and researching, but more stably, more peacefully.
As you know, it would takes me more three years to study in CAA, on the one hand, I feel protected in campus, the historical context and cultural foundation mean a lot to me, so are my tutors; on the other hand, I would not take this three-year as my buffer for getting into society. I am still a student who insist on demanding myself by the standard of an artist, aiming at find out my own way. This is my plan for future.

6.Q: Could you please evaluate yourself by one sentence?
A: The representation in my painting comes from life, connects to reality; but I would rather think it as an independent world.

『WEIYU New Woman Interview』When “Drunk” Goose meets with “Greedy” Kitty

If you want the closest thing to an objective look at wine and western food, an online community called Penguin and Cat has made a series of instructional videos, showing us good table manner and tips of wine tasting. This online community has raised two rounds of financing so far.

The protagonist of this interview, Wang Shenghan, CEO of Penguin and Cat, is an overseas returnee called “Drunk Goose”by Chinese netizens, together with her partner Zhang Nannan, called “Kitty”, runs an online community where members discuss how to define a good wine or how to cook western meal. These two girls have filmed a series of videos of which the first season “Drunk Goose’s Wine Diary” and “Kitty’s Cook Diary” have taken 20 million hits. On the same time, Their online shop, “Drunk Goose Wine Cellar” and “Kitty’s Food” are also seeing big increases in sales

Why is “Penguin and Cat” special?

In China, western food has not been spread wildly among the youngs, western table manner is considered to be too complicated to learn in a short term. That’s why a part of people hold the view that western etiquette is a kind of ta**ry mystification.

Penguin and Cat is determined to break through these prejudices and get more people to know how comes these various table manners; and learn about the wide diversity of wine in these free instructional videos.

“It is a great choice to introduce people food by video, which encourages experience consumption to a large extent.”

Wang Shenghan (Drunk Goose) does not want to sell wine directly, so she finds a new way: fortune bag- to send members a different wine every single month. Members can get a carefully selected wine by group Penguin and Cat each month,so that they can taste all kinds of high quality wine from various countries and regions without leaving home. At the same time, Wang Shenghan would update her video regularly, taste the wine together with members online, and share professional knowledge about wine with them. Now the number of members of Drunk Goose Wine Cellar reaches 2500.

“It’s not because we get popular then we start to sell things. We want to provide a scene for viewer in a visual way. Good thing can naturally make an appeal to consumers.”

Actually,Wang Shenghan has been known as “New York Returnee” online four years ago. In 2012, inspired by friends, Wang Shenghan upload a series of homemade videos playing a Chinese student who feels uncomfortable after coming back from New York, exaggerated facial expression, sharp tongue, so ironic that has aroused heated discussion.

Speaking of this experience, Wang Shenghan said:“I have learned a lot from making the ‘New York Returnee’videos, but I also find out that I do not like work on media industry. I hope I can have a specific skill, digging deep into a particular area.”Now Wang Shenghan returns as Drunk Goose, together with her partner Zhang Nannan(Kitty), one is in charge of eating, the other one is in charge of drinking, pursue for their common dream with joint effort.

It is because of Xu Xiaoping that the two girls met each other. Then Zhang Nannan recommended Wang Shenghan who studied wine in America to go into further study in Le Cordon Bleu. The two of them studied cooking and wine together, meanwhile established a deep friendship, which creates the conditions for future cooperation.
Their life mentors Xu Xiaoping also invests for Penguin and Cat that they found later.
“Nannan has a quite enviable trait-never gain weight!” Wang told us,“She has kept doing Yoga for five years, and the reason is to stimulate her appetite...”
Compared to the quiet tender Nannan, Wang Shenghan looks more sharp, as she said:“More dramatic, more exciting :)”

As CEO, Wang Shenghan admits that a lack of management experience is her biggest challenge, and sometimes she will go emotional. But as a young female entrepreneur, she is able to take overall situation into account and maintain sharp market insight. She and Nannan are struggling to make wine younger, western food more popular, enable more people to know and enjoy the high quality wine and food.

——Q&A——

Q: Could you please introduce Penguin and Cat briefly?
A: Penguin and Cat is a we-media, Me and Nannan has attracted a quite number of fans by introducing delicious food and wine online in the early time, so we decided to found our own studio. In one word, we start our business as online stars.

Q: What is in your mind when you found Penguin and Cat? And, what’s your plan?
A: Because we really love delicious food and good wine, also, we are specialized in it, have studied professional knowledge of them for years. So we want to share with people what we have learned. In China, there is few instructional video about western food and wine, we want to make this more systematic, gathering all the food and wine lover in China together to build the most influential high quality food community, both online and offline.

Q: What advantage do you think Penguin and Cat has?
A: I think there are two of them. First of all, we make a full use of video to present fans a good visual experience, and the products transform from video to reality is a very nature process. Second, me and Nannan all have distinct personality, which is good for our show to distinguish from others.

Q: Penguin and Cat’s aim customers are?
A: Basically are the 25-30 years old white-collar workers in top cites, those who are interested in improving life and promoting taste.

Q: How do you interact with fans?
A: Online, we share with fans various knowledge about food and wine; offline, we have a series of event to increase stickiness. (simile)

Q: Any advice for female entrepreneurs?
A: It is mostly depend on personal skill and talent. At the beginning, we are all on the groping stage, but we persist on things that we love. Gradually, we found our won development mode. Secondly, I think a good partner is very important, we have the common pursuit to spread our idea of good food and food wine among public, which is Penguin and Cat is focusing on at present. Besides, it seems a part of people hold prejudice toward female entrepreneurs, I admit that women tend to be more emotional in work, but I have the confidence to overcome it.

Q: Would you share with us some of your special experiences?
A: I have worked in a Michelin three stars restaurant in New York before, hoping to learn more about wine. I gained much during working in there as an intern, because they are strict with customer services. I try to learn every single detail, which make me faced with big challenge. This experience helped me a lot in my founding Penguin and Cat.

Q: If you were not CEO of Penguin and Cat now, what would you do?
A: Eh...good question. I really want to devote myself to cultural industry. If I were not running Penguin and Cat, I may doing things relevant to publish or writer. For me, I love what I am doing right now, and would stick with it in the following years. Maybe in several years, I would do become a writer, but now, I would make Penguin and Cat more influential, letting ordinary things become interesting and valuable with my professional skills.

Q: Do you ever pay attention to art?
A: I love Kenyahara and his book, especially Design of Design.

Q: What kind of person are you in life?
A: Let me think about it, I don’t really know, Nannan is busy in testing new recipes, I have to keep eyes on management, so we do not have much personal time.

Q: What about your personality? What comment would your friends make?
A: Nannan is a warm girl, fans love to call her “wife”, because she is a family-center woman, also very tender. Most of all, she can eat a lot! I’ve never seen a person like her before, keeps eating but just does not gain weight. As for me, I am more like a online star, more sharp, more humorous. Actually I am less steady, get high spontaneously all the time.

Q: I can see, let’s get back to your area of expertise, could you recommend some wines suitable for girls?
A: Of course, girls would prefer rose and champagne, sweet white wine like Riesling is also fine.

Q: Well, would you give some benediction to WEIYU?
A: I think many fashion women choose to ignore the charm of art due to high temper work life. Actually share art can improve our life quality to a large extent. Now soft value is becoming increasingly important in our society, We exceedingly need a platform like WEIYU to feel and learn art, then improve ourselves.

『WEIYU New Woman Interview』An’s Jewelry Lab

“Diamond is the best friend of girls.” Marilyn Monroe said in the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Yes, the everlasting diamond bears witness to the love and honor of a woman, also, record all her ups and downs. Today’s interview is about a woman who has a deep bond with jewelry. Fashion buyer---Lu Xin’an, is going to tell us her original understanding on jewelry.

An’s Lab is a jewelry studio founded by An, which sticks with the idea of never following popular things blindly and insisting on personal aesthetics and unique style.

An’s parents work on foreign trade industry, so since An was a child, she has got access to those delicate and beautiful objects with high quality form Europe and Japan, also, she learned a lot knowledge about jewelry from parents, all these make An unable to tolerate imperfect things. “I am obsessed with unique and beautiful thing from an early age.” Therefore, An began to work on jewelry industry after graduation, searching for the most brilliant diamond for us with her demanding “critical eye”.

Green G is the main product of An’s Lab, because An loves the design philosophy of Green G: Select the rarest natural gemstones only, combine with the creative imagination and top-quality workmanship, to tell the sincerest and most beautiful story.

Price tag and big brand are not the only goal to pursue, girls spend a certain amount of money on a little creative jewelry for themselves, it means a kind of confidence that we are eager to distinguish ourselves from general trends.

An said: “Everyone is making progress, I do not like the jewelry that you would not love it anymore in three years. I hope our jewelry is an interesting carrier full of marks of time.” Actually, jewelry is not only for clothes matching, it is the eternally renewed memory, label of personal style and self-love of an elegant woman.

An’ Lab has a special ring with six-year history, since it was on sale, has never re-designed. Till today this ring still looks classic and chic.

“Jewelry from big brand are made by assembly lines, which is more common in China. Though small brand is more flexible in product style, manufacturing technique is less than ideal. Therefore, I want to bring customers the jewelry with unique design, high level processing technology and top-class stone materials.”

An loves art, has her own opinion toward beauty. She keeps reading to learn new knowledge and to seek new inspiration. She puts all her understanding and feeling into her design.

Her work reflects attention to details, every piece of jewelry has been revised for several times till An is satisfied with it

Fashionable short hairstyle, cool sunglasses, slim figure, it’s unbelievable that An has two kids already. “I have considered about being a housewife, but I am a woman with ambition, also, I want to set a good example for my children by never stop making progress.”

“Many times, my kids can bring me new inspiration for design and aesthetic appreciation, they can spur my enthusiasm in life. I am very happy that I can grow with them together, run my loved business at the same time.”

Hot mom An, did well in balancing work and family life. Under the trend of following popular things blindly, An still sticks with her own idea, trying to bring us the most special jewelry that enlightens ordinary life. The way she lives is more shining than gemstone.

—Q&A—

Q: Why do you name your studio An’s Lab?
A: Because I’d like to stick with personal aesthetic, encouraging people who wear my jewelry to distinguish themselves, to find their own style. And our studio keeps using those top-level stone materials, which is quite experimental in domestic jewelry industry, that’s why I call my studio a lab.

Q: So you are a selectors, not only designers?
A: Yes, I personally am very obsessed with beautiful things, have specially learned jewelry appreciation as well. Due to my family business, I have access to top-class stone materials and high level processing technology. My plan is to combine modern aesthetic with high quality stones, to design jewelry that is excellent for daily wear.

Q: So your main product Green G, are you its agent?
A: Not really, we have our own design as well. We are not limited to a certain brand. I prefer those brand with everlasting style and unique design.

Q: Could you please introduce Green G briefly? Why do you choose it?
A: Green G, founded in 1997, whose designer Sabina Lee is the first Asian designer to participate in the Baselworld. It is a high quality jewelry brand that aims at young people. Green G focuses on the emotion transmission and story telling. That’s why I choose this brand. High jewelry is a commemoration of the important moment in life, it’s eternal and everlasting.

Q: Which kind of jewelry do you prefer?
A: I prefer the style of Asian design, because it’s more delicate, more suitable for figure of Chinese woman, fit more our taste. The design from Europe is relatively rough and wild, though it’s attractive, it doesn’t fit very much for the petite, implicit Chinese people.

Q: Could you please share with us some knowledge about jewelry?
A: Take the stone material as an example, actually, there are various kinds of stone materials. But for professional, whether a stone can apply to high jewelry or not, depends on three criterions: beautiful, rare, eternal. Those rare jewelry that is able to stand the test of time would reflect an everlasting beauty.

Q: So this criterion also applies to modern jewelry?
A: Yes, say, emerald, it’s a traditional high stone material, but we would use it in an interesting way. An’s Lab is trying to bring girls the jewelry excellent for daily wear in modern society. It’s not an investment or something hold value, it’s a fashion and modern thing.

Q: Your target customer is...?
A: Women between 30-40, An’s Lab is a young luxury, so girls with unique style is the main customers we serve for. Woman would feel nothing about jewelry until she has enough life experience. Just like me, at the first beginning I do jewelry business, I have little resonance, as time goes by, I gradually prefer the everlasting beauty that can pass on.

Q: Does An’s Lab have its own designers? Do you offer customization?
A: We collaborate with many designers, we only offer a certain kind of customization. We have professional suppliers and matching processing technology, we only do our own style, not imitate big brand.

Q: Actually, you did not study jewelry for bachelor and master, why do you choose this as your career?
A: On the one hand, influenced by family, but it’s mostly because I love art, love jewelry, love beautiful and unique things. The more I learn about jewelry, the more I find it charming and everlasting.

Q: You have two kids already, how do you balance work and family life?
A: In fact, I have considered about being a housewife before, but I am a woman with ambition, I want to be better, I want my kids to know, their mommy is doing an interesting thing, is keeping studying. Now my daughter is 3 year-old, she sometimes would talk to me about how she feel about beauty. I feel great, because on the one hand, I am doing things that I like, on the other hand, I can set a good example for them.

Q: Yeah. Are you going to an exhibition?
A: Yes, Hong Kong International Jewelry Show, one of the three most influential Jewelry exhibitions in world (the other two is Baselworld and JCK Las Vegas). I have to keep studying to absorb new things and to develop my aesthetic ability.

Q: OK, you have shared with us so much, I am really looking forward to your salon in Weiyu.
A: Thank you, I would share my new feeling after I come back from Hong Kong.

Q: Thank you, see you in Weiyu salon in March 12th
A: OK, see you soon.

『微雨新女性专访』张森森:金融战场上的一朵玫瑰
『WEIYU New Woman Interview』Kay Zhang – A Rose Blossoms in the Financial War
Financial world is like a silent battlefield, tense nerves, rapid pace, everyone is scrambling for time.
Today, the protagonist of this interview, Kay Zhang, would bypass the smoke of battle, tell us her life of art.
Specializing in math in England in 16 years old, receiving a master’s degree in finance in Imperial College London in 22 years old, Kay is too logical and too precise to talk nonsense.
“We are the first interaction promoting fund that concentrates on industry 4.0.” In her work, Kay is very professional and strong, whilst learning new industries such as 3D printer, core component of robot, medical equipment, environmental protection material. “What we gonna do is to knock and open the door of the small firms in German, bringing their technology to China to help Chinese enterprises in industrial upgrading.” She has always been believing in“Revitalizing China through Industry.” “Maybe it sounds grand, but it still needs to be done bit by bit.”
Speaking of her working state, Kay answered with one word:“fly.” Her job requires frequently foreign business trip, which means Kay has to fly 30-40 thousand kilometers per month. And she usually goes to German once a month, in her busiest day, Kay flies 7 times in 5 days. “That’s the first time in my life, impressing me a lot.”
Even Kay is quite busy in wandering around to meet companies, she would still take time out to relax and unwind. “The more working under high pressured environment, the more adjustment is needed by us.” Kay would do at least 3 groups of plank everyday. Even she is on her business trip in German, she would go for a jog at night. “I've seen old gentlemen and old ladies having dinner together in a garden, and a teacher is teaching them bel canto, feels really good.”
Though have been dealing with finance all along, Kay is keen to art as well. “I like photography very much, actually photography is much like painting. When you get a good composition, press the shutter, here comes a painting.” Kay loves to use cell phone to take photo, “It’s not necessary to use pro lenses, photos can be touching as long as it’s infused with intense emotion.”
“Some people say it seems that those who stay too long in places like England or France would become artists. That’s because places like that are too boring, only to find pleasure in art. Haha.”
The Munich in silent night, the closed gallery, or the yogi on the top of Table Mountain. Kay keeps recording these beautiful moments by phone. She is always on the way, to feel the charm of art by heart, to open her hands to embrace nature. “I've got many places to go, Luang Prabang in Laos, the Four Seasons Hotel in Golden Triangle… I want to explore more interesting, fantastic places like that.”
Kay starts art collection with the help of friend. She said she likes expensive works within her financial capacity. The volume fewer but better. It’s the same as her consumption view, “I don’t care about the price, as long as it is worth it.” Kay’s shirt is stiff and stylish, refined in details. “It does not cost me much actually, I customize it in a Ningbo people who is living in Hong Kong. He has been apprenticed to a English for decades, and is very skillful.” Paying great attention on her appearance, Kay tends to be a woman of action and settles down to work, to live.
“The first artwork that I buy with the money I earn myself, I hang it on my own house in Hong Kong. For me it means a lot.”
For Kay, art is a self-cultivation, a life philosophy. In a fast-paced city like Hong Kong, in an intense career like finance, Kay still lives in her own way, having a cup of tea with elegant pose, buying favorite paintings, going out for a jog at night. While every time she wakes up, she throws quickly herself into work. “For heart, find the peace, for world, seek the success; still water runs deep, turbulent water runs shallow.”- That is the life philosophy of Kay Zhang.
--Q&A—
Q: How long have you been working in financial industry? Do you love it?
A: Since my graduation in 2010, it’s almost 5 years. I major in math and finance, so I love what I am doing. I would stick with this job for a long time, because it is an accumulative process, I won’t quit in the middle way.
Q: How about your life and working state?
A: Keep flying. Our fund has four offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Munich, respectively. So we nearly have business trip once a month. Actually I am kind of tired, but I would steal time to relax.
Q: What would you do for relax?
A: I keep exercising, at least 3 groups of plank every day. When I go to Munich, I would go out for a jog at night. In the park, I would meet with many interesting people, or find some beautiful but hidden places (like gallery or furniture shop).
Q: You have been to so many places. Could you tell us the thing that impresses you most?
A: When I was in college, I like to go to somewhere wild, like Africa, Israel, Syria. I remember that once in Cambodia, me and my colleagues went to an original village. We were going to give out some candies, a bunch of kids came around me, I felt a little scared at the first time, so I threw all the candies into sky, I was happy that kids enjoyed the candy rain. Being close to nature is so great.
Q: I can tell that you are a person live with heart.
A: I'm a dedicated person. I like to follow my heart. I love to try new things, this is very similar to investment.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I love art pretty much, though I major in math. When I graduated from school, I got to know a lot of photographers, hanging out together, taking pictures. I think photography is much like painting, both of them depend on composition. When I work, I prefer somewhere unusual, and using the lenses to record my joinery.
Q: What is your view toward art or art investment?
A: I think art is more like a self cultivation. As my boss saying, everything is philosophy. I can say I am aggressive, it is the truth, “For heart, find the peace, for world, seek the success”,It is my way to deal with art, investment and family. I am not professional, but with the help of my friends, I am doing some collection that is able to move me or has artistic value.
Q: Thank you! Lastly, do you have advice or benediction for WEIYU?
A: Demi (founder of WEIYU) is my best friend. I know that WEIYU is a very important part of her life.I hope WEIYU would keep the way it is, better and better, and be our constant companion.
