Three trips to the seafood bar is a perfectly reasonable place to begin.

The evening unfolds with snow crab, prawns and shellfish on ice, freshly sliced sashimi, sizzling grills, and a scoop (or two) of Häagen-Dazs before heading home. You'll also find steamed baby lobster, abalone with sea cucumber and other rotating specials. Live guitar keeps the atmosphere going while you decide whether there's room for just one more bite.

For most of the year, dragon boats typically belong to the waterways. But this summer, one has made its way into the heart of downtown Foshan.

A 23.8-meter traditional dragon boat from Jiujiang's Huangji Village has been installed at Lingnan Xintiandi, bringing one of Lingnan's most recognizable traditions out of the river and right into the city.

Visitors can circle the boat, pass through a giant Dragon Gate installation, and get an up-close look at the craftsmanship, rituals, and community spirit behind dragon boat culture. Throughout June, the site will also host dragon boat markets, cultural performances, interactive drum experiences, and talks featuring champion dragon boat racers.

For visitors new to South China, it's a perfect chance to experience dragon boat culture beyond race day. For locals, it serves as a vibrant reminder that the region's time-honored traditions are still very much alive.

📍 Lingnan Xintiandi, Foshan

Long Men Art Installation: May 30–July 19

Hidden inside one of Guangzhou’s most iconic five-star hotels is a gem most visitors never discover — a museum dedicated to the city’s rich culinary and cultural evolution. ✨

That’s Lab recently stepped inside China Hotel, Guangzhou to explore this fascinating time capsule. Through original artifacts, photos, miniature displays, and historical items, the museum beautifully tells the story of Guangzhou’s transformation over the decades.

📜 Original menus from the Republic of China era and early New China — a rare glimpse into how old Guangzhou used to eat.

🏙️ Detailed miniature recreations of historic food streets and traditional Lingnan neighborhoods.

✨ The inspiring story of China Hotel, Guangzhou since its opening in 1984 and its role in the city’s modern hospitality history.

Walking through this museum feels like traveling back in time. It’s not just about food — it’s about culture, memory, and the soul of Cantonese heritage preserved in one of the city’s landmark hotels.

Best part? Entry is completely FREE.
Perfect for anyone who loves history, culture, and Cantonese cuisine.

Some dishes are so intricate that they slowly disappear from everyday dining, surviving only in historical records and old culinary texts.

At China Hotel,Guangzhou those forgotten flavors are being brought back to the table.

This time, That’s visited the hotel not simply to try a meal, but to witness a remarkable recreation of classic Cantonese dishes once thought lost to time. When names previously seen only in ancient recipe collections arrive as fully realized dishes, the experience feels like stepping into culinary history.

One standout is the Jiangnan Baihua Chicken, a dish that layers delicate chicken with intense seafood umami, creating a depth of flavor far more complex than its appearance suggests. The craftsmanship behind it reflects the patience and precision of traditional Cantonese cooking techniques rarely seen today.

The setting adds another layer to the experience. Surrounded by the historic atmosphere of China Hotel, Guangzhou, the meal feels closely connected to the spirit of old Guangzhou and Lingnan culture itself.

There are many famous noodles in Guangzhou, but few carry 40 years of legacy and such a spectacular traditional technique.

At China Hotel, Guangzhou we captured something special: the living art of Jook Sing Mian (竹升面) — a centuries-old intangible cultural heritage method that turns noodle-making into performance.

The Master chef’s balance on long bamboo poles, bouncing with precise rhythm to press and knead the dough by hand. The result is the signature texture, ultra-thin, firm yet impossibly springy that machines have never been able to fully replicate.

We also let our host Billy try riding the pole… the contrast was hilarious and only made us respect the chef even more 👏

Beyond the show, the experience feels deeply nostalgic: wooden tables, retro porcelain bowls, and that classic old Guangzhou street vibe that keeps locals and visitors coming back for four decades.

Watching the process is honestly as unforgettable as eating the noodles themselves.

🍃🥃 Leaf Lounge makes its first impression in green, leafy, open, and tied to the name before the more refined details come into view.

By day, it keeps an easy rhythm with coffee, light bites, and a polished setting that still feels relaxed enough for long catch-ups. ☕ As the day slows, the room starts to reveal its amber side: shelves of whisky, selected wines, and cocktails made for longer conversations. 🍷🍸

Deeper inside, the cigar cellar gives Leaf its connoisseur core. Carefully kept at 18–20°C and 65–72% humidity, with 24-hour monitoring, it protects each cigar in proper condition.

The two branches carry the idea in different ways. Four Seas Walk is airier and more open, made for daytime lingering and relaxed meetings. Zhujiang New Town has a warmer lounge mood, suited to evening whisky sessions, ci**rs, and casual business talks that do not need a boardroom.

Sophisticated but airy, connoisseur-minded yet accessible, Leaf Lounge gives the city a softer way into whisky, wine, and cigar culture, turning good taste into an invitation to stay awhile.

Lakeside Pizza Stop

At Aranya Jiulong Lake, Brasston slips into a slower beat.

This Huadu branch trades city-center bustles for lake views, terrace seats, open air, and an easy staycation mood. Walk a little, spend time by the water, stop by the art center, then settle in for pizza.

The holiday setting gives this branch its own character, but the pizza keeps its serious side. At the core is Italian-rooted craft, carried here by Chef Li Yongjie, APNC-certified pizzaiolo and winner of the 2023 Caputo Creative Cup and 2024 Caputo Cup. That balance of holiday ease and champion-level technique is what makes the stop memorable.

The Margherita keeps it clean and confident with airy edges and a leopard-spotted crust, while Burrata and Tartufo Nero take things in a richer direction.

Lake breeze, art strolls, and champion-made pizza, a pretty easy way to spend an afternoon.
