Museum MORE just opened its third location, MORE Twickel, in Delden. Right near where I grew up 🌿

Located near Twickel Castle, the space formerly known as Museum No-Hero feels totally transformed. The curated works fit the intimate rooms and surrounding forest far better than the previous collection👏🏻 MOre REalism.

Loved seeing how different realists capture changing nature across the two opening exhibitions, Into the Woods 🌳 and Jan Mankes:

Friction⚡️Zagreb Design Week

The Academy of Fine Arts was transformed into an exhibition space for design, including commercial collaborations with brands, universities, and ministries you might not expect to see here, like the Ministry of Forestry. And it’s more than just graduation work from art and design schools in Croatia and beyond

If you love Dutch Design Week, then you would have loved this one too! Impressive cross-over collaboration, good production value and a constant creative spark. Just what design is supposed to do

A few standouts that stopped me:

💙 “Intentional Blue I” Dymitr Buławka - Fankidejski Narodni muzej Slovenije

Your brain tries to parse two things: the electric blue hue and a texture that mimics raw timber. The blue is true ;), but the material is not. It’s neither wood nor stone. Love it!

Artist Dmitrij Buławka-Fankidejski works with stoneware and pigment glazes to construct shapes mimicking subterranean crystals. They are slowly grown, incredibly delicate, and deeply tied to natural materials

A standout piece from UNICUM 2026 (6th International Ceramics Triennial) in Ljubljana. Until October 15 at the National Museum of Slovenia

The Last Boy Scout by Pasta Oner

What I personally love: a classical work (Galleria dell’Accademia, Florence) can look now like a hot guy from the street. I would look up to him. And the bright brushstrokes give me confidence and optimism💪🏼

Pasta Oner is one of the best-known names in Czech contemporary art, colourful and cartoon-inflected, rooted in Prague’s 1990s graffiti scene. Part of Danubiana’s permanent collection, built around 200 works donated by Dutch collector Gerard Meulensteen

The Only True Protest Is Beauty
Fondazione Dries Van Noten

This exhibition became personal when I came across the crystal sculpture by Isaac Monté 🌸 Owning one of his vases made this encounter even more special. It also made me rethink the exhibition’s title. Beauty isn’t a protest to me, it’s a quiet reminder to pay attention. Carpe diem. ☺️

Surprised by the new in Nijmegen

Not only by the architecture and redesign of the museum itself, but also by the sharp curatorial choices and the presence of artists such as Nick Verstand, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, FreelingWaters and Robin de Puy

A surprisingly bold mix of architecture, archaeology and contemporary art.

At the in Borne, Dutch textile history stretches far beyond Twente. The new exhibition, Identity in Colour, made together with runs until March 2027

What I like about the Bussemakerhuis is how it keeps connecting Twente’s textile past to international stories. First Japanese kimonos, then Scottish tartans, and now West Africa through the world of Vlisco

Borne once thrived on flax, linen weaving and textile trade. Twente later evolved into one of the Netherlands’ major textile regions. Vlisco emerged later from that same Dutch textile ecosystem. Instead of linen, the company specialised in industrial cotton prints and eventually the colourful wax fabrics now worn across West and Central Africa 🇧🇯🇬🇭

The museum itself is worth a visit too. It is the Netherlands’ only publicly accessible 18th-century linen merchant house. African textile fashion downstairs, old wooden looms and quiet linen rooms upstairs ✌️

Impressive residence and beautifully curated, the in Brussels. Stunning geometric abstract art. Sol Lewit, Roni Horn, Turrell. All present 🥰

My favourite is the Cube called ‘Cocktail Sculpture’, by 🧊Filled with paraffin oil and distilled water, floating on top of each other due to the different densities. Minimal art. And with a rainbow diffraction effect 🌈

In the background, 🟧 ‘Hommage to the Square’ by Joseph Albers

The 📐Aluminium sculpture, Bicho Ponta Pa, by Lygia Clark, 1960. Was revolutionary back in the days. It has no top or bottom side. It can be arranged in a variety of configurations.

Other beautiful works: 🟦 light projection by James Turrell, 🔲 Donald Judd, ⚪️ by Dan Graham and another ⚪️ by Roni Horn, 5.000kg massive glass. The Sol Lewitt structure together with the white painting by Mary Corse and the 2 blue verticals are part of the SoundSpace installation 🎼by Bernard Leitner

Atacama Desert, north of Chile🇨🇱 Together with Arjan and Danny, I travelled for a couple of weeks in Chile.

Our home base in Atacama was San Pedro de Atacama, at 2.400m, a small lodge just outside the centre. Dusty roads without asphalt, barely wide enough for one car, became familiar quickly. Cold nights, burning sun during the day, ands temperatures around 26°C

From there we moved toward lakes above 4.000m, and finally to steam rising at El Tatio. Lakes Chaxa, Legar, Miscanti and my favourite lake Miñiques at 4.200 (see photo 7)

The Atacama is the driest desert on Earth, with less than 1 mm of rain per year, yet it is kept alive by meltwater from the Andes. Beneath the salt flats lie vast lithium reserves, roughly one third of the world’s known supply. Lake Chaxa, see photo 3, with the Pelicans is next to that reserve)

Life adapts quietly at altitude. Vicuñas, which I kept calling mini llamas, suri that look like a kind of desert ostrich, and Andean geese live where oxygen is thin. Vegetation shifts color through minerals, water, and lichen, Lizan R would have loved this

Salt lakes are so dense you float effortlessly, the water clearer than the Dead Sea. In Laguna Legar, we could float standing up

All of this sits in a volcanic landscape. 🌋Around 200 volcanoes rise in the Atacama, part of nearly 2.000 across Chile, with about 90 still active. El Tatio covers 10 km² as the third largest geyser field in the world. The sunset above the valley of Moon, see final photo was beautiful. And at night, with almost no light pollution, the darkness is deep enough to lose count of the stars, just sitting there, looking up. Thanks

May the dances, songs, and gestures keep carrying memory forward. Thank you for letting tradition stay alive. 🤍This is my sweetest memory of the island🤍

Rapa Nui culture is often cited as a strong example of living Polynesian heritage. Here, language, dance, and ritual are actively practiced, not reconstructed. If you can, do visit! It’s really a living island, not a resort 🌸
