“Maloca”
Capoeira Maloca Beijing is one of the earliest groups to practice and promote Capoeira in Beijing.
It was founded in 2006 by a group of enthusiasts,
joined Capoeira Mandinga in 2009 as its Beijing branch,
and officially took the name Capoeira Maloca in 2021.
Today, we have sister groups in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Iceland,
and we stay connected with Capoeira practitioners around the world.
At Maloca Beijing, there’s no “you have to become this” standard.
Everyone moves at their own pace and finds a training level that feels right.
Some people train seriously, some take it slow. Both are welcome.
Training can be intense, but the atmosphere is relaxed.
We sweat together, laugh together, and spend time with the music, history, and culture of Capoeira.
Over time, it’s not only your movement that changes,
but also how you understand Capoeira itself.
Alongside martial techniques, we train music, dance, strength, and body awareness,
and we take time to explore the history behind the art.
Students are encouraged to experiment, reflect, and gradually develop their own way of practicing Capoeira.
“Maloca” originally refers to a traditional longhouse used by Indigenous peoples in the Amazon region,
a place where people gather, live, and share.
That’s also what Maloca Beijing is meant to be.
If you’re looking for a place you can stay with long term,
without pressure, you’re welcome to come by and see for yourself.
