Today was one of those days that reminds you why I do what I do. I had a quick meeting at the Kantana Vietnam studios, and honestly, walking through those doors felt like stepping into a real hub of cinematic innovation.
You hear about studios, but seeing where the magic actually happens for films of this caliber is a whole different experience. Their portfolio isn't just impressive; it's genuinely insane. We're talking visual effects and post-production work for everything from Wong Kar-wai's 'The Grandmaster' to massive blockbusters like 'The Boys,' 'Invincible,' and even 'Mario.' And getting a firsthand look at the intricate work behind films like 'Sonic' and the incredible Vietnamese action film 'Furies' was absolutely next level. It's a testament to the incredible talent and dedication here in Southeast Asia.
As a filmmaker and creative director, seeing this kind of precision and artistry up close fuels my own passion. It's a reminder that truly great work transcends borders and that the collaborative spirit of cinema is alive and well, even in a bustling city like Ho Chi Minh.
I'm exploring more of HCMC until the 29th, soaking up the energy and inspiration. If you've got any must-see spots, hidden gems, or incredible food recommendations, please hit me up! I'd love to hear your best HCMC recs.
