Jiang Miao Upcoming Exhibition | 예정전시 화이트스톤 갤러리 서울은 2026년 7월 25일부터 8월 23일까지 중국 현 대 미술가 지앙 미아오의 한국 첫 개인전 《Spiral of Energy》를 개최합니 다.
대부분의 작가에게 캔버스가 가득 채워지는 순간은 작업의 끝을 의미하지 만, 지앙 미아오(Jiang Miao)에게 그 순간은 또 다른 창조의 시작입니다.
그녀는 물감을 더해 완성하는 대신, 이미 쌓인 물감을 깎아내는 ‘비움’의 과 정을 통해 독창적인 조형 언어를 구축합니다.
마지막 붓질이 끝나면, 작가는 조각도를 들어 수십 겹으로 두껍게 쌓인 아크 릴 물감을 섬세하게 깎아냅니다. 이 과정은 캔버스를 물리적인 시간의 기록 으로 변화시키며, 드러난 총위마다 빛과 공기, 그리고 계절의 흐름을 고스란 히 품어냅니다. 동양 철학에 뿌리를 둔 신비로운 나선 구조는 우주의 순환 질서를 형상화하며, 회화와 부조 조각의 경계를 넘나드는 독창적이고 촉각 적인 경험을 선사합니다.

Whitestone Gallery Seoul is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Korea, ‘Spiral of Energy’ by Chinese contemporary artist Jiang Miao, from July 25th to August 23rd, 2026.
Most painters put their brushes down once the canvas is full.
For Jiang Miao, that‘s exactly where the real journey begins.
Marking her very first solo exhibition in Korea, this show introduces a captivating artistic language where creation paradoxically happens through subtraction.
Instead of applying final touches, she uses carving tools to meticulously shave away dozens of layers of built-up acrylic paint. This process transforms the canvas into a physical archive of time, trapping slices of light, air, and the changing seasons within each exposed layer. Rooted in Eastern philosophy, her hypnotic spirals map out the cyclical order of the universe, offering a rare, tactile encounter where painting meets relief sculpture.
