HUA WANG will return to Berlin with a new exhibition during BERLIN GALLERY WEEKEND.

This time, she partners with for the duo show NATURAL INVERSIONS, curated by New York–based .silvis.art

The opening will take place on April 30, from 3pm to 8pm, at Lottumstraße 14, and the exhibition runs until May 16, when the finissage will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm.

As Silvis writes in his curatorial statement:
“History tells us there is nothing new under the sun. Yet human nature continually presses forward, driven by innovation—new technologies, new methodologies, and the rapid automation of information. (…) By oscillating between abstraction and presence, the spiritual and the profane, the work of Wang & Heim affirms our state of flux and invites viewers to engage the ambiguity that recognizes these conditions not as obstacles, but as generative forces.”

.nyc The tortise is a ground living creature. It has survived while the rest of evolution flowed past it by being, on the whole, no threat to anyone and too much trouble to eat.
And now imgaine there’s a hand, a creature of power and functionality. A minute later, the totise lost its ground, it sees the world for the first time, no longer one inch from the ground but much higher, and it thinks: what a great joeney I am starting. Excited to announce that my latest creation, “A Hanging Pig On A Key Chain” will be showing at .nyc ! Joining21 artists in an outrageous and rigorous display (a total surprise!) The opening is on Wednesday, September 3rd at 131 Christie Street, New York, NY.

‘A Hanging Pig On A Key Chain’ continues my exploration of the balance between truculence and cuteness. An upside-down pig, hanging uncomfortably from a keychain, looking adorable yet with red eyes - perhaps overworked, overfed, over-pinked, or overpowered. It‘s all just too much. Hua’s Gigantic House on view until 19.07.2025
Crossing the River by Skipping the Stones is an interactive video work that draws from quantum theory, Zen philosophy, and the poetic potential of play. At its surface, the game simulates the familiar act of skipping a stone across water—
but beneath that gesture lies a layered meditation on uncertainty, memory, and recursive interaction.
Each stone not only carves its path forward but also creates waves—subtle ripples that linger in the environment and loop back to shape its future motion. This self-affecting dynamic takes inspiration from pilot wave theory, a lesser-
known interpretation of quantum mechanics in which particles are guided by the waves they themselves generate. In Crossing the River by Skipping the Stones, this manifests as a choreography of feedback: the trajectory of each skip is delicately altered by the residue of previous movement.
Floating atoms and drifting molecules populate the water’s surface, creating a field of unpredictable resistance. As the player engages, the game shifts from simulation to metaphor—a dance of cause and consequence, observation and entanglement. The water becomes not only medium but mirror: reflecting the gestures enacted upon it.
Collaboration with scientist Matthieu Deblock on quantum computing and string theory—the game offers an interpretation of a central teaching from the Diamond Sutra: “All conditioned phenomenaAre like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, Like dew or lightning—Thus should they be contemplated.” Crossing the river by skipping stone, 2025, Recycled pulp board & video game on Pad, 89x266x4cm Photo by

I always remember the first time I picked up a turtle from a jar at the ’flower
bird and fish market‘ in Urumqi (Aquarium & Aviary Market). There were so many choices – some more exotic than others, some with more freedom than others. As a kid, I tried to figure out which one was prettier, which one could speak to me like in cartoons. The turtle I chose escaped from the tank not long after I took it home, and I never saw it again in my life. But the sense of domination I felt as a young child was vividly etched in my memory. My dad loves to cook and feed me like many of the Chinese parents, and like many Chinese people he cooks well, we even had a restaurant.
Thanks to Yuan Longping (1930-2021), a Chinese agricultural scientist and the ‘father’ of hybrid rice, food shortages in my generation have
been completely eradicated. Unlike 10,000 years ago when we had to pray to a god for rain and consecration to avoid being drowned, today wheat is cultivated and harvested all year long. In China alone, we produce 137.5 million metric tons of wheat every year. The days of being constrained by ‘Tian’ (a divine entity) seem long gone. Now we no longer suffer from food deficiency in the most of places on this planet. For most of the people is about how, where, and what we eat, despite which country or continent. I wonder as technology went into everything including food, is the wheat still the wheat? And are we still how we use to be? God of Wheat, 2025
