Have you listened to Jovi's newly released LP "Vendetta Vol2" yet? Well, we did and the track "Mami Pikin" is one of those tracks that really hits hard on the project. It's in collaboration with female rapper ASKIA. Though these two artistes explore the topics as single parent, the hook really takes us back...

On "Sweet Mother" by prince Nico Mbarga and the Rocafil Jazz Band released in 1976, he was talking as the child and the song is a celebration of all mothers. It carried Highlife and Congolese Soukouss Guitar influences. One of the all time biggest hits in African music history. The hook and part of the lyrics went...

"... Sweet mother I no go forget you, for this suffer weh you suffer for me eh...

If I no sleep, my mother no go sleep, if I no chop, my mother no go chop/She no dey ahh sweet mother...

I no go forget this suffer weh you suffer for me yeh yeh..."

Well, "Mami Pikin" by Jovi and ASKIA is not a sample of the original song though. It is a trap beat done in a Hip Hop fashion which expresses the challenges of single parents in today's world. Though these two point lots of fingers at their "co-parents", they also express lots of love for their children who have grown to be the peace they ever needed. Contrary to Nico Mbarga, they stand as the parents expressing love for their kids. Their hook also goes...

"One, one time man get to yamo!!!

I no fit chop weh my Pikin nova chop

I no fit sleep weh ma Pikin nova sleep..."

Jovi goes once more to prove to music listeners he is the voice of the people as he also experiences some of the things they all go through. This song is irrestible and is the 10th track off the Vendetta Vol2 LP. Shoutout to Mami Bakala who also does justice on the beat. 🔥🔥🔥

JOVI: 2035 ALBUM REVIEW

(COMPLETE REVIEW!)

The story just keeps going as Jovi adds another album to his catalog, making it the 5th. He is among the African rappers with the biggest discographies. 5 albums, 11 Eps, 1 mixtape. This review is our understanding of the the 13 track project.

👉TRACK 1: KOBRA SINCE 1998

"Serenity" is the word to describe this intro which evokes little feelings of melancholy. The beat starts with rain pours at the back as it grows with Reniss' vocal entry "Love is blind, and you know it. You no fit see me, ehhhh... ".
Jovi emphasizes on his status on Cameroonian Hip Hop (Its kind of obvious around here who be the GOAT)and how despite all these years, he didn't let go his values " Mboko no di bend, meat no dey, na only bone".

I guess it's the reason why he has always been a badass (kobra) from way back. If you've known Jovi for a while now, you know he don't play with principles. Things that made him stand strong.

👉TRACK 2: MAN PASS MAN 5

The heat is turned up as Jovi comes this time around on a Drill beat titled "Man Pass man 5". Harder than a furnace, Jovi is hazardous as he sprays shots in the air for whoever deserves with. His haters are targeted and and opportunists ain't left out either " Maintenant quand on reach à mbeng on devient artiste engagé". Switching from French to Pidgin English, Jovi signals comfort on the hook as everything is "top" (Fine).

"Matinga dey for terre with Matango, comot chuckin turn back witty tolambo". Even if you don't get pidgin, the way this phrase above is delivered was just mind blowing. Every Jovi album has a man pass man series and this is part 5. Nothing but hardness with a catchy hook. Top top top toptop top.

👉TRACK 3: ANDRE MARIE TALLA

The room starts boiling as the 3rd track is also a Drill beat with a sample at the back. Andre Marie Talla is a Cameroonian music legend whom despite his genius with music, he is visually impaired. Jovi personifies himself to Andre Marie and is on indirect mockery mood as he can't see his competition (rivals) like Andre Marie Talla in dark shades.

It is just another level of mastery of French Hip Hop flow. Despite their efforts, they are no where close "Tu forces mais sa ne tchaa pas... ". " Old news bro, you be na throwback. If na me this competition, I must get to work. 😭

👉TRACK 4: MON ANNIVERSAIRE

The mood on "mon anniversaire" is that of celebration. 2035 album was released on Jovi's daughter, Yajé's birthday. This song is prolly dedicated to her as he goes in with "Everything I do is for you.. ". The picky Guitar notes at the back remind us of some other " Bikutsi" inspired beats Jovi has worked on.

It is a Trap beat with much animation as the intention is to go wild "Zig zig zig zig zig zig". Birthday songs are eternal as everyone just needs to connect on their own birthday. Can't wait for next year to go wild with this.

👉TRACK 5: NOUVEL HOMME (FEAT YOUSSOUPHA

Jovi goes for French rapper of Congolese descent on " Nouvel Homme". Nouvel Homme in English means "new man". Jovi digs into old school Rumba and brings out that chord only Tabu Ley Rochereau (congolese music legend) could do. It is a fusion of Rumba and Trap and feels like a gift to Youssoupha and his people. Jovi let's Youssoupha exploits more of the song and guess what, Youssoupha is Tabu Ley Rochereau's son. They all philosophical with lines like "Je suis pas rich moi, Je suis pauvre avec de l'argent". (I'm not rich. I'm a broke man with money).

They make allusion to Africa not being rich cash wise but very wealthy with raw materials. They express their professionalism and love for music as they say " Yous et moi sont pas des novices". Imagine rapping in French with a French rapper. Jovi is so daring and superconfident. He also gives a shout-out to the Congolese in Lingala. A remix with Fally Ipupa will be a awesome. This song is a desire for growth (transformation)🙌

👉TRACK 6: WOUNDED GRAND

"Wounded grand" deosnt necessarily mean injured, but a way of saying he is in danger mood (badass). That situation when you have no choice on them streets. It is doubled-phased as the first part is Jovi on his melodious flow with a special kind of accent. The transition is just magical as Jovi goes harder. He hits us with a paradox with the word Fish (bar fish) "We like for chop burning Fish o'boy I want na bar/I like fish, I hate fishy things, that one na bar... ".

Loving to eat bar fish and hating fishy things and declaring the phrase as a bar is insane. The Guitar notes feel like Soukous, blended in Boom Bap beats. Did you also feel the trumpet at the end? Lastly, a Jovi stan will feel a similarity in background sound with the second part of "Positioning" from the Mbokogod album. The kind of feeling you can't describe.

👉TRACK 7: MERCI (FEATURING RENISS)

Merci has church choral samples. The kind of song you show appreciation to God with (Hallelujah, I count my blessings). Jovi expresses his love for his fan base "Mbokogang" and doesn't consider them fans, but family.

It is this love for each other, coupled with God's mercy that pushes Jovi and RENISS to put their hands together in prayers to say "MERCI" (Thank you) to the Almighty. Reniss is flawless.

👉TRACK 8: SITONY

Sonically, "Sitony" is a wonder. The beat is fashioned to fit in a Rap way, while the background chords are Bikutsi inspired. The kicks also feel like it was okd school Blues music, while choral response sounds more like Jovi, filtered at the back. I don't feel like it's Nkodo Sitony singing, but done in the way Sitony would have done if he was standing in front of the mic about to respond to this melody.

Jovi adapts his flow to the complicated beat and it really matches what he referred some years ago as "My rap style is called how to rap a hit". He throws flowers on himself and feels like Dre and Nas in one body as he can cook his own beats amazingly, and flow "godly" like Nasir Jones would. Genius song. The feeling is pure nostalgia 🔥🔥

👉TRACK 9: TOFF

Jovi made a slang spelling out of the word "tough" and that's how the title "Toff" came about. A hard Trap beat to vibe on. He goes majestic with his flow and compares it to "soya" (Locally sold roastes meat). "Le son est bon comme le soya de la briq, tara sa répond.. ". The song is as hard as the title and Jovi has no intentions of stopping soon " I no go stop like this men dem want for relax".

If you were in a show or at the club, this would make you go nuts. The mood is that of domination and for you to stand up to Jovi, make sure you meet up with the "1 terabytes" digital space his discography occupies. 🙌😆 This can't be possible if God didn't put "extra steps on your ladder".

👉TRACK 10: KOPPO

Koppo is a Cameroonian OG rapper who evolved in the early 2000s. Koppo did Hip Hop in broken French and as someone with almost same street orientation (mboko) with music, Jovi thought it wise by paying respect to the legend. Koppo's "Si Tu Vois Ma Gos" hit from 2004 is sampled as hook and Jovi makes the beat pretty catchy and groovie.

The beginning has me thinking of "Family" released way back. Though Koppo expressed a breakup with his girl due to the difficulties in the country, Jovi expresses more of his hunger on the beat "inspiration no fit lack. Body flop only tracks". Jovi is on his egotrip and bottom line message is the desire for success (Faire du cash). If you know about Ransom, then you'll understand why Jovi needs two of him at the start of this song. OG.

👉TRACK 11: UP NORD (FEAT TAO)

Jovi takes us to North Cameroon with the melodies as TAO, la Reine du Sahel is invited to deliver her precious vocals on this dime. She makes it epic like it was Fatoumata Diawara with amazing vocals delivered in what seems to be "Fufulde" language. Jovi has always traced his ancestral migrative trends to Maroua from North Cameroon.

Jovi quotes the national team coach's " Danger theory" and has everyone giggling, while he admires the beauty of the Northern woman as he considers her to be smooth and beautiful. This beat would be very difficult for any other rapper, but Jovi finds a way round it. Epic and spiritual.

👉TRACK 12: TCHAKOUNTE

Pause! If you want to understand the sample behind "Tchakounte", divert to YouTube right now and type Pierre Didy Tchakounte "Makeladia" and listen to the song. Then come back and play Jovi's "Tchakounte". The album gets emotional as Jovi uses Tchakounte's melancholic voice to send across his message. Jovi expresses the negative effects of the Anglophone crisis on Cameroonians. Many have died and many others are currently displaced. All he has are unforgettable memories of now torn cities, which used to be closest to his heart (Bamenda, Kumba).

Jovi Jovi equally samples the speech of Revolutionary Burkinabé leader and pan-Africanist Thomas Sankara. Sankara talks to his people about doing the most to cancel external debts, while becoming massively productive. Similar to Cameroon, Sankara pointed out the capability for his country to boost food production, but due to disorganization, their country can't reach their goals and keep depending on foreign aid.

"Those who feed you, impose their principles on you". Tchakounte is like a slap on the face of leaders and a cry for change in Cameroon. The envisaged 2035 Emergence seem to be farfetched as Cameroon's external debt for just 2023 is estimated at 12.137 billion dollars and Cameroon still imports toothpicks. This song is deeper than you think. Jovi is heartbroken.

👉TRACK 13: LES MATTAS

The outro to this album actually expresses the purpose to which it is intended. Debuting with a trumpet which comes as a warning, alert to us all, Jovi says "Remet le comptoir à Zéro", which to me means taking us back to the basics. The mood of " Les Mattas" is anger. Jovi paints the streets in a hard way.The difficulties in the country is the reason why the neighborhood is full of problems (mattas) and everywhere Jovi looks he says just problems "Since for sharp I di only fache, I no know for ma heart so n'a only rage. N'a mbere di chop wonna give me badge. Bollo no dey... "

The high rate of employment is creating anger in the heart of citizens, which is the primary cause to other many problems faced in the country. Juvenile deliquncy, scamming and drug abuse, are all some effects of unemployment. You should love this song more if you connect to the hardship happening in the country.

Reniss is the reason for the transition. The second part has Jovi on a lyrical perfection. Another thing you don't know is the bond and respect for Reniss. Did you know the second part of Les mattas is actually a sample of Reniss' "African luv"? Yeah, rush back to YouTube and type Reniss "African luv" and you will feel it. It was released under the " African Luv" Ep, all produced by Jovi Lemonstre himself.

Jovi and Reniss began this journey together and loyalty has bonded them throughout the years as he referred to her as the DNA of his music. There is no better way to show respect and close your 5th album. What a feeling.

🥽APPRECIATION

Every sample on the "2023" tells a deep story in connection to Cameroon. There is a lot of sonical reference to the Mbokogod era of production too. A sign that Jovi stayed true to himself and didn't switch. All songs produced by Lemonstre, except for Mon Anniversaire produced by Rex OTB Though Jovi expresses a couple of difficulties, he avoids pointing fingers directly on the whole project. He equally maintains his egotrip as a sign of comfort and domination on the game.

To me, the project is more like an eye-opener, reasons why it is named "2035". It is an introspection on our evolution as a nation. From the evaluations, the people will have to decide if the envisaged 2035 emergence of Cameroon by the current system is a farce or not. Same as this project is partly a challenge to a system that has ruled for more than 40 years now.

2035 to me is not just an album. It's a signal and a warning that we still behind and to meet up, a lot bas to be done. We also haven't appreciated him enough for his multilingual skills. Coming from the Anglophone regions with this mastery of French leaves me bewildered. The beats are very descriptive. From the above review, give your appreciation on 10 and your favorite songs.

Thanks for your patience!

JOVI: 'WLK D TALK' EP

(THE REVIEW )

It's another February of a new year and once more Jovi drops an Ep like two loose pockets in Mokolo market. "WLK D TLK" is an additional content to a huge discography which is now at 11Eps, 4 albums and 1 mixtape. The cover art is as hard as granite and Jovi is still on that savage mood despite all these years. Solid with 7 tracks, this is what the "WLK D TLK" Ep feels like...

📀 TRACK 1- BIG TALK

Debuting like a Beethoven instrumental with a choir wail, "Big Talk" follows with a snare and Jovi attacks from the first kick like a s*x scene with no preliminaries, "I no get for talkam you know who the man in town...". In a trap feeling, Jovi takes us through an egotrip with a chill flow like he got nothing to prove. "...Man di flow for miles till I'm no where to be found...". Jovi goes back to back with the bars like an old inmate from Newbell who got nothing to prove. Additional backups are heard from RENISS who goes "Jovi na how eh...?".

📀 TRACK 2- SOME CORNER FT ASKIA

While we looking for a comfortable spot to settle, track 2 comes in real quick and is titled "Some Corner" featuring ASKIA . Piano fingers all lingering on the intro as the traps slap harder than my dad's belt back in the days. The first ever collaboration between Jovi and Askia "I no di over shake, I just dey me for some Corner...". All confident, Askia and Jovi are not bothered by competition despite that haters try to dim their light, so they on the corner watching like a security guard who already saw the thief jumping the fence. The harmony is contagious as Jovi and Askia switch flows like two oceans on the bouncing traps. A pidgin flow will never be this attractive...Askia is back.

📀 TRACK 3- ÇA SERRE FT ISHAKU

Literally the most groovie track on the project, Jovi brings in Ishaku on "Ça Serre" as Askia bumps fists with him and exits the studio. This is the vibe on the project that deserved a video as Jovi precises "Le sons ci c'est la guerre". Ishaku steps on the beat like he just from pilgrimage with a Haousa flow. We don't understand yet what he is saying but our ears just don't want him to stop. These two are a very powerful combination and the pressure Ep and YVAMS mixtape can testify. Jovi goes in English and French like a conscious Canadian and we can picture him on a video smashing the ground with his brown Timberland boots already. There is nothing Ishaku cannot do. Ça serre is French for "tight fitting. Flow got friction like a lubricant got missing...😑

📀 TRACK 4 - FACE IT

We going back in time and no one can't convince me Jovi is not on some Dr. DRE West Side kind of vibe here. You know Jovi has always looked up to Dr. Dre so it's pretty understandable. You will feel like it's about to be to be a The Game, Kendrick, Dr. DRE, Snoop, on the track, only to feel Jovi tearing down the whole beat like a rapper with a vocal sword in the studio. The beat raises your adrenaline and the flow is hard as Jovi goes with hard bars like ".Except for all the Johnnie that I sip that comes in cases/I don't do those kind of bars where I just feel the spaces..."🔥🔥🙆‍♂️
Face it, is raw with uncut bars and Jovi got nothing to hide because "The truth is like a selfie..." and the "only way to go about it is to face it...".

📀 TRACK 5 - KEEP WALKING

If you were about to stop, then know you still far from the destination. If they say "follow man weh know road" and Jovi at 11 Eps, 4 albums and 1 mixtape has not stopped working, then I guess it's not the moment to give up. There is a sample of a female voice at the back as Jovi's traps invade the heart like Shaka Zulu's encirclement tactics. Jovi's voice comes in deep like a Savage with 21 voices. This song is an expression of achievement for Jovi, while it is a motivation for those who look up to him. As brand ambassador for Johnnie Walker, there is no better way to join his voice to his brand to tell us "Keep Walking". If I stop, make thunder fire me...😑🙆‍♂️🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶

📀 TRACK 6- MBOKO NOSTALGIA FT TATA

As a Cameroonian, I know a Njang and Trap fused feeling when I listen to one, and this is it. It is just a work of art on its own and behind that production there is still a background sample of a blues choir. No other way to define greatness and I guess Lemonstre was conscious enough to call it "Mboko Nostalgia". Did I mention Njang at the start? Yes, I did and guess who is on the collaboration... TATA

A vibe like this for contri boy who is originally a vernacular rapper is just the right timing. Just like Ishaku, Tata and Jovi on album mode are beasts. Tata laments on not getting credited despite the fact that Limbum flow is now overseas thanks to their input. It's understandable because "Men dem no straight massa all thing bend..." and that's why " For Inside this game..." they don't "have friends" and that's why Jovi's "heartbeat like a man who died twice...". It's time we give Newbell music their credits and keep aside our differences. Mad song...🔥🔥

📀 TRACK 7 - WALK WITH ME

I removed my shoes and walked with Jovi on this and I must confess it is my favorite on the track. The beat transports you to another dimension as mysterious vocal samples come in like it was Sabali hook vocals with Damian Marley. Jovi clears the air and puts things in place. Jovi regrets the lost of his mentor just at the start of his career and there is no doubt, he is referring to the legendary Tom Yoms.

Still close to his family (Newbell Music) and still the best on the mic as he "spits double like twins..." and does it "×2". Though the many praises, Jovi is on guard and believes in his own words more than anybody else. He cautions those who come at him and act all innocent like they weren't ready for war. It is therefore very disrespectful rating him with people he inspired all these years, and it's safe to say you don't "...know what awkward is..." when you do that. The outro is a masterclass as we end by acknowledging Jovi's GOAT status on Cameroonian Hip Hop.

This Ep to me is literally a full album. It is so much work just for an EP. Following previous observations, tradition wants it that after an Ep, Jovi usually drops an album and he actually announced one for this year. A 7th track Ep on free download just goes ahead to show how Jovi is grateful for his fans and we hope the generosity is exchanged as usual on his album. Jovi used this project to also promote the Johnnie Walker liquor brand where he is brand ambassador. Tell me your favorite track on the project and please don't forget to SHARE this review.

Thanks for your patience 🙏

CHINDO: "SABI MIXTAPE"

(THE REVIEW)

Good morning or whatever time it is where you are, fellow readers. I want to start by apologizing for the long absence. Though i don't post negative content i still don't understand how our page got reported. I had to take a while for the page to be fine. I'm here today to do a review of a mixtape titled "Sabii", by Cameroonian female rapper Chindo. The uniqueness of this project could not go unnoticed. It is an 11 track Mixtape and here is how the genius in it runs.

📀 TRACK 1- INTRO, CHICK WEH KNOW

The ideas picked for this mixtape are mind-blowing. This mixtape actually starts with an intro, which is the first track titled "Intro, chick weh know". Well, the magic on this intro is the fact that the piano playing at the back is drawn from one of Drake most legendary songs "Marvin's room, buried alive". Chindo draws the piano interlude and expresses herself in a dialog as if she was in an interview. Her whole essence is explained on this intro. Just wonderful. Chick weh know is pidgin for "All-knowing lady".

📀 TRACK 2- SABII

The second track from this mixtape carries the title of the project. Chindo demonstrates her "Sabii" by hopping on an instrumental inspired by American legendary Rap group Mobb Deep, from their song "Shook Ones". Shook Ones is said to be one of the dopest beats in Hip Hop history. She enters into the flow like an OG, with a line which goes "...In the name of the father, son and Holy Chindo". It is a lyrical fire and her flow and cadence tells she has been a rapper for a long while. Chindo said she is here to "do it proper" because there has been "So much errors in the game..."

📀 TRACK 3- KAMER LUV

Expressing her Patriotism, Chindo goes for a sample of one of Cameroon's Hip Hop pioneers KROTAL. Chindo sampled his original song ",Vert, Rouge, Jaune" and gave us what she called "Kamer Luv" which is a way of expressing love for her country Cameroon. The hook is just so spiritual, while Chindo's storyteller techniques are relatable. "J'adore mon pays, vert, Rouge, Jaune...".

📀 TRACK 4- MANNA

Like every mixtape, someone has to be inspired by another's work. Chindo goes for Nigerian GOAT rapper MI Abaga and samples his song "Money" from the "Talk About It" album. Chindo talks about the struggles of growing under hardship and how hardwork, patience are some of keys to life and God's blessings. "In our neighborhood our home is the poorest. If I wasn't well trained, I'd be a pocket..."

📀 TRACK 5- THE DOWNER

It is definitely a moody and spiritual moment as Chindo steps in with "The Downer". I was left in a deep reflective mood as I went through this. Chindo talks of betrayal, loyalty, disappointment, perseverance in life and how your close ones can let you down in a twinkle of an eye. "Not everyone that smiles at you wants to see you fine". The beat inspired from Lloyd Banks "Smokes and Mirrors" from "The course of the inevitable" album. It is what we can describe as DEEP. "Watchout for your circle, family, friends and everything..."

📀 TRACK 6 - FEARLESS FREESTYLE

Chindo goes "fearless" as the rapper whom it is sampled from. Chindo samples "Et P8 Koi" and comes forth with a freestyle where she addresses personal issues and challenges. Just like the theme, she is all Fearless and goes for some heads. Chindo goes aggressive on this one like "Grand J permit me make I boleh this beat, this men dem want die for ma gist..."

📀 TRACK 7- KICK ATTACK FT FUCHOR

Literally one of the hottest on the track, Chindo goes for a lyrical and flow ma$sacre featuring Fuchor. Chindo laments on the situation of the country and some bitter truths about our environment. Fuchor expresses the difficulties of being an upcoming artiste in Cameroon and why he migrated from a rapper to being one of the most influential bloggers of his generation. It is a flow paradise and this one is inspired from Vector featuring MI Abaga on Crown of Clay. "March me, block me, I deliver like . Tomorrow carry beleh, you need my shoulder..." 🔥🔥🔥

📀 TRACK 8 - SMIRK FT RAPSEY

In English, a "Smirk" is a half smile which is not a happy one and usually irritating. It expresses dissatisfaction. On Smirk Chindo says she didn't come to play and goes hard about it on the beat. If you think Chindo came to play then know "Ça ne rit Pas" as Cameroonian rapper Maahlox expressed on his hit song "Ça ne rit pas". Rapsey bsbb_Official goes hard like a stone breaker on this one "Saying you best that's a felony. You need to work nikka follow me...". It's no games out here with Chindo.

📀 TRACK 9 - HEARTLESS

Chindo displays highly melodious skills on "Heartless". She narrates her heartbreak from a relationship and how she just wants to move on from now. Probably the reason why she is "heartless" now because just like Burna Boy, she just received breakfast. This one is on an RnB track inspired by Tank on "When we". There is a feeling of Mindless Behavior as she goes "We used to be like Jay and Beyonce, Brad and Angelina...". Very touching.

📀 TRACK 10 - GROUND KAKO

"Ground Kako" is not a sample as Chindo recorded on a beat produced by Mamba Beat. She is all emotional on a slow piano as she express her sorrow over the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. She mentions "Kimora", a baby murrdered in cold blood during the Anglophone crisis and how lives have been lost over "ground kako" (material things) we will all leave when we not here anymore. Since 2016, Cameroon has been facing a deadly crisis that has not been solved till date. "From parents to kids, right now no one is safe. Yesterday, today, tomorrow will be the same...". I shed a tear.

📀 TRACK 11 - ESSENCE

Though fast rising, Chindo ends this outro of her mixtape with so much maturity. This "essence" has nothing to do with with Wizkid and Tems, but the essence of Chindo's nature as a rapper. Chindo expresses the difficulties and pressures as a rapper. How people expect her to go naked for attention or be a drug addict as portrayed in today's Hip Hop. She insists, she is walking her own path and don't want to fake a lifestyle for clout. The trap beat sinks into the soul and makes you feel legacy in what Chindo just created. "I don't need to go naked for attention, I don't need to get high for inspiration... I live the lifestyle of an ICON..." 🙌🔥👌💪

Usually, mixtapes feel like Compilations, but this is the third time a mixtape a mixtape sounded like a perfect album to me after M.I Abaga "Illegal Music" and Jovi "YVAMS" Mixtape. Chindo will definitely attain the level of a legend someday if she focuses on creating a legacy. I'm impressed. The complete mixtape is found on YouTube while we await its upload on streaming platforms in the days ahead. Please listen and tell us what you think.

Thanks for your patience 🙏

TORCH CITY: SENSE PASS KING EP

(THE REVIEW )

I usually described them as the 237 Migos, but they are more special than that. They got so much style and swag. Above all, they got very catchy pidgin wordplays and they got lots of energy. If I'm here today, it's to talk about about their "SENSE PASS KING" Ep. 7 dope tracks that feel like this 👇

1- YAMOR 2

If there is a "Yamor 2", it's because there was a Yamor on their former "Street Life" Ep which was the Outro. With the kind of energy they give out in their music, I would have wished this one to be the outro too. That's because the song carries a general theme which goes with a happy ending. "YAMOR 2" has partitions of a Congolese RUMBA guitar chord, blended in a trap beat. Making it very sonically appealing. It goes from an observation of the human nature "I don't trust nobody people lie alot", to individual motivation "Me I just be focused on my business". I "Yamor" this song, no lie.

2- SENSE PASS KING

"Sense Pass King" is the second track on the Ep and it also carries the name of the project. Sense Pass KING is the right anthem for a show and it carries a Drill vibe. I bet you, you can't leave their show without sweating, from the kind of vibes they produce. A little like man's not hot, the hook goes "When I m*rder them, rappers, it go PEW PEW PEW...I keel all them, rappers, it go TUTUTU...". You just have to teleport yourself into a show arena to feel what this feels like. It will blow your speakers. The Torch City crew have studied the game and they know where to dominate other rappers in this mainstream world.

3- ASAP (FEATURING NGOMA)

Here we are on another Drill beat with so much sharp guitar melody. "ASAP" features Ngoma and it was released as single with a spanking street video too, directed by Dr. Nkeng Stephens . "ASAP" which short for (As Soon As Possible) is a hustler's anthem, and the City crew think if you in this same line of hustle and ambitions with them, you have to show love, and show it soonest. Ngoma handles the hook like he got no legs, and kills it effortlessly.

4- LIKE A FRAUDSTER

This is the mood switch song. It comes with dark and hard Trap vibes. It is an introspection through the life of a hustler, who goes hard like a fraudster to make it by any means, and now he like Musafa who is a king. Torch City Trio - TCT takes us back to the genesis to what it has become as in "Now so I di na wear na side by side slippers, but weh my place still dey". Back to back bars on a pidgin flow, ILEGA is all drowsy on the flow emphasizing on his street struggles. This songs feels like PAIN. "Lord knows I tried".

5- SHWÁA WOO KOV

The first time I heard the phrase "Shwaa woo kov", it was from Richard Kings Official .This line is expressed in the Lamso vernacular and though I don't know what it means, I connect to the spiritual nature of the art. This song carries more of Afro vibes with a special touch of melody. The Torch City can sing and also rap. The Torch City give you a triple feeling and you can tell they are exceptional and creative.

6- CHAK

"You dey chak I dey...All ma men dem dey chak". Chak is the 6th track on the SENSE Pass King project and it is assurance everything is moving smoothly while hoping the future has more. This track also carry some eye opener lines "You tchombe Gucci but ya reme di tchombé na rags", pointing to dudes who hustle and neglect their family while living flashy. Uncle Cales goes hard on his hustler spirit and thinks those who are jealous will end up understanding when they will be right infront. This song is like a rubber band that ties the crew spirit. Chak is a Trap beat.

7- AFRO RAP

Afro Rap is the outro to the SENSE Pass King" Ep and it's a viby type. They all hype and you can literally count their flow patterns one after the other. "I'm out here balling cause I bend down work" is when someone is proud of the fruits of their labor. The Torch City crew are very hardcore with lyrics and though it's all 70% pidgin flow, you can feel the heat and animation in their vibes, even on a foreign stage.

APPRECIATION !

The Torch City are conscious of what they possess and their street sensation is appealing. They put vibes over everything and you can tell they are out for the show. Sense Pass King Ep is a redefinition of a mainstream experience on what local rap can be on the entertainment scene. This Ep will sell out shows if promoted to another level. Kudos to the Torch City Crew. They are signed to Kwata Music INC under Mic Monsta Official .I recommend the "Sense Pass King" Ep all music listeners. What's your favorite song ?
