No | No | Yes | Congrats.

Four words that describe my journey to Arles, France.

Selected from an international pool of filmmakers, I joined the first edition of the VII Foundation Film Lab, an elite mentorship and documentary development programme that brought together 12 filmmakers from 12 countries across four continents. After a month-long virtual programme in June, an in-person residency in the campus in France followed.

My documentary proposal was selected as one of three projects to receive a grant.

Also, thank you to the The VII Foundation & their network for helping overturn visa decisions.

I made new friends, incredibly talented fellows and industry connaisseurs who are passionate about real stories - and storytellers.

From who timely aided me at the train station, to seeing PR ‘s brilliant work on missing persons, to putting on the spot at the Van Gogh Cafe for one last unofficial mentor talk, to seeing Nanuka ‘s project develop beautifully, to Susan Turley for being an absolute angel, to the session with Terri Lichstein that reorientated my mind, to all our wonderful mentors, to visiting my brother Yves Saint-clair Zogo who was an amazing host and my new buddy Tanjimul Islam Tuhin whom I have nothing nice to write about.

Excited for this next chapter.

To the moon, and beyond.

The Biker on the Moon series ushered in a different perspective on dreaming big and the reality of finding dreamers who are actively doing. It explores a commercial bike rider in Douala, Cameroon, in a makeshift spacesuit from mechanic wear and cardboard helmet, who fell in love with outer space. I am happy to share part of this series in full as many more developments towards a bigger picture is in motion.

🎬️ Celebrating this year’s three Film Lab grant : Ebrahim Alipoor, Nanuka Kutibashvili, and Kreative Kwame.

Selected by our specialist jury following this year’s Film Lab in , the three visual storytellers are developing documentary projects rooted in the communities, identities, and social realities of Kurdistan (Iran), Georgia, and Cameroon.

“Cameroon has so many incredible stories, and this grant is the rocket fuel to kickstart the documentary journey of an outer space story I have been working on for a year. All tin go dey bwam!” says Kreative Kwame.

The grants will support Kreative, Nanuka, and Ebrahim as they continue developing their projects.

Congratulations to all three!

Ngwane E. Kwame is a Cameroonian multidisciplinary artist and social advocate using art as a powerful tool for positive change. With a background in Journalism and Mass Communication, he blends storytelling, visual arts, and community engagement to spotlight social and environmental issues.

His work has been featured in prestigious exhibitions in Paris, Geneva, New York, and the UK, in collaboration with organizations such as the United Nations and University of Oxford. He is a Cameroon Youth Awardee, a TED Speaker, and a NEWF Fellow (South Africa).

Through his social impact initiatives, Kwame has successfully raised funds and awareness for community projects focused on potable water access and healthcare. He is also the founder of the We’re All Liquid Photo Prize, empowering photographers to use their craft for meaningful change.
