Deb Covell is a painter who celebrates the material qualities of color, creating new forms and media to create images without limitations.

"My practice is supported by the philosophical idea of creating a "form" with the material and conceptual potential of color. I have thrown away the traditional supports of a canvas or a wooden board because I find them too limited in a formative phase of my work. Instead, I make my own carriers by building layers of acrylic paint on polyethylene sheets, which are removed to create an acrylic paint that is used as a flexible material to create three-dimensional forms with or in a traditional sense like a canvas on which I do not paint objective images."

"My works refer to central moments of 20th century abstraction, especially the abstract geometric works of early and late modernism such as Suprematism, Constructivism, De Stijl and the American Minimalists, who often rejected pictorial space and illusion in favor of a more objective "reality" in which each piece works independently and without referential distortion."

For the last twenty years, Swedish artist Lars Strandh has been examining a limited selection of colors in his works. Innumerable horizontal thin brushstrokes, which at first glance appear monochrome, lead to multicolored and multilayered artworks. On the basis of the calm and repetitive painting process, Strandh’s artwork can be understood as statements and research of time, traces and existence.

„My work has a philosophical approach, a paintbrush can last two seconds and those seconds are gone, they will never come back, but somehow they are still in the painting. In a way my work is a testimony of my life and time, each brushstroke is a proof of my presence, and the vibrations in the lines can also record my breathing.“
