TIRANA - ATHENS
We are back from our break, and before we talk about our next project in Zurich, from August 21 to September 8, where we will set up a campaign office on the sidewalk in front of a gallery producing campaigns that emerge from the needs of spontaneous encounters and that go against the trend of centralised & exclusive capitalist image-making in public space that seems to focus exclusively on the public eye in a consumers logic, we will first finish the presentation of our selected documentation of the previous project, still untitled "Artists On Tour”.
So if we follow the chronological logic, you can now see the images of our show in Tirana and in Athens.
The person who invited us in Tirana was talking to someone throughout the whole show, probably not realising it had started and was hugely distracting us from playing our own characters. It may feel like we are discrediting the individual reported, but as the person is not on socials, we did not mention their name, and above all we do not have many followers since we are navigating inside a small and niche art world, it feels right regarding the mental process that does not stop from happening. It is as well, fair to mention that we had a lack of sleep the night before leaving Pristina, a city that could just be that cherry on top of the world’s pie. So maybe we were just grumpy and could not handle tricky situations. Yeah, that’s most probably it…
In Athens, we played the best show of the tour, maybe because we both lived there for 3 years and our audience’s expectation created concern and pressured us to deliver. According to that a fierce argument about the different colours of grapes and of the way they were mischievously placed on the plates caused a discussion about time management, knowing that there was no time to rehearse properly built a fruitful base of tension. After lots of yelling, 5 minutes before the start of the show, we thus went for it, which also explains our intense reconciling hug at the end of the show.
Emotions are very intense at times but with the right attitude and necessary distance, it seems to have been the best thing that happened to us as a duo.
