Happy birthday to Yan Bingqing!🩷

Born in 1983 in Shanghai, Yan Bingqing has developed a distinctive painterly language centred on the human figure. Working primarily in tempera on wood panels, he creates psychologically charged images that explore emotion, vulnerability, and the complexities of human experience.
His elongated figures and theatrical compositions dissolve conventional markers of age, gender, and identity, translating subtle states of anxiety, desire, intimacy, and introspection directly into visual form. Across his practice, painting becomes a process of concentrated self-examination, inviting viewers to confront their own emotional experiences and inner worlds.

His solo exhibition ‘And Thus It Goes’ at Galerie Urs Meile in Beijing is on view until August 2!

We wish you a wonderful birthday!🌷

We are excited to unveil ‘Listen to the Water’ (2025) by Shao Fan, presented as part of Basel Exclusive at Art Basel 2026.

Rabbits occupy a singular place in Shao Fan’s artistic practice. Neither symbolic figures nor simple studies of animals, they become a means through which the artist explores broader questions of perception, identity, and existence. Rendered at near-human scale and constructed through countless fine brushstrokes of diluted ink, they emerge slowly from the surface, hovering between presence and disappearance. In ‘Listen to the Water’, the rabbit becomes a quiet reflection on time, transformation, and the fragile condition of being alive.

June 12 – August 22, 2026
Opening: Saturday, June 13, 6–8 pm

At the centre of the exhibition is the artist’s recent series ‘Deep Waters Run Quiet’: paintings in which dense layers of acrylic paint are built up only to be cut, carved, and laid open. Through these gestures, Ju Ting transforms destruction into a condition for renewal, revealing colour as stratified memory and the painted surface as a site of excavation, vulnerability, and transformation.

Galerie Urs Meile, Zurich Ankerstrasse
June 12 – August 29, 2026
Opening: Friday, June 12, 6–9 pm

‘Fugitive Figuration’ brings together, for the first time, nine paintings from six different series spanning more than three decades of Xie Nanxing’s practice. From his iconic works of the 1990s to paintings completed in 2026, the exhibition reveals the many forms that figuration has taken in his work, at once elusive, provocative, humorous, and deeply introspective.

We look forward to welcoming you this evening!

Tonight: Artist Talk with Julia Steiner🔥🔥

Thursday, June 11, 2026
6:30–7:30 pm

Tonight, Julia Steiner will be in conversation with Museum Langmatt director Markus Stegmann about ‘Licht und Luft’, her newly commissioned site-specific work for the museum’s pavilion.
Created for the pavilion’s large glass surfaces, the work allows cloud-like forms of insects, blossoms, and leaves from the surrounding park to emerge through drawing. Nature, architecture, and art come together in a subtle and unexpected symbiosis, creating a unique dialogue between the building and its environment.

Following the conversation, guests are invited to join an apéro.

Get Me A Stone

12 June - 1 November, 2026

Rosalind Nashashibi’s solo exhibition ‘Get Me A Stone’ opens this Friday at Artium Museoa in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain!

Bringing together paintings made between 2021 and 2026 alongside the new film ‘Occupation of The Inner Life’ (2026), the exhibition reflects on questions of memory, resistance, exile, and the enduring emotional and political realities of life in and beyond the Gaza Strip. Moving between painting and film, Nashashibi creates spaces where personal experience, history, and collective memory intersect.

On the occasion of the opening, the museum’s AMA Study Center has organized a seminar with the participation of Rosalind Nashashibi, Mahmoud Alshaer, and Amador Fernández-Savater.
