TAREK ATOUI - The Whisperers

Tarek Atoui is an artist and composer known for his experimental and collaborative work focused on exploring sound’s multi-sensory potential in various social and spatial contexts.

During the pandemic, he initiated the project “The Whisperers”, involving workshops with young students to explore questions related to sound and space perception, non-repetitive sounds, multi-sensory listening, and converting sound into energy.

He also collaborates with musicians and instrument makers worldwide to create “tools for listening” from various materials. His exhibition combines musical and non-musical elements, inviting visitors to explore sound through performance, amplification, and energy in innovative ways.

Cyprien Gaillard’s Nightlife is a 3D film spanning two years of exploration in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Berlin. It explores revolution, resistance, and resilience against historical backdrops.

The film connects Rodin’s “The Thinker” to Los Angeles’ exotic vegetation and Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. It ends with Jesse Owens’ oak tree, set to Alton Ellis’ music.

Through visuals and music, Nightlife delves into history’s complexity and the human spirit’s resilience, offering a thought-provoking journey into our shared history.

SLOW SHOW PERFORMANCE -

Experience 20 minutes of pure magic as choreographer Dimitri Chamblas takes you on a journey through trance, euphoria, telepathy, and unconscious memories. The performers' almost imperceptible movements reveal a world of emotions.

Since its debut in LA in 2018, Slow Show has captivated audiences worldwide including a memorable showcase at Luma Arles in France. This unique performance is the result of intense four-day workshops, where around 50 individuals come together to create something truly extraordinary.

‘Slow Show’ is conceived and choreographed by Dimitri Chamblas.
Commissioned and produced by Luma Foundation for Luma Westbau and presented as part of Zürcher Theater Spektakel.
