To wrap up our technical archive series, we are turning up the volume on the invisible glue holding every musical together: our sound design! 🎧✨

Balancing a live band, belting cast members, and fast-paced puppet dialogue inside the reflective stone arches of Theater STOK was an extreme acoustic puzzle. Sound waves love bouncing off stone walls, meaning our audio designer had to constantly tweak the balance so that the audience wouldn't miss a lyric or a punchline. He also had to make sure the actors and musicians could hear each other, even when the cheers of the audience threatened to overpower it all!

💡✨Following up on our set design look-back, today we’re shining a light (literally) on another crucial piece of the Avenue Q technical puzzle: our lighting design!

Lighting an intimate, stone cellar like Theater STOK comes with a unique set of challenges. Low ceilings, exposed stone, and fast-paced puppet entrances meant every cue had to be precise. From perfectly place spotlights to warm NYC daylight to dreamy dance sequences, our team transformed the atmosphere of the neighborhood and always perfectly fit the mood. They even had lights timed to the choreography!

We hope you’re all surviving the Zurich summer heat! While the puppets are cooling off, we’re opening up the Avenue Q archive vault to highlight the technical side of the neighborhood. 🏙️🛠️

Transforming the historic, rustic stone cellar of Theater Stok into a gritty, bustling corner of New York City was the ultimate architectural puzzle. Every single centimeter had to serve a purpose: windows needed human reach but puppet height, doorways had to withstand quick entrances while allowing for enough space for high-energy choreography, and everything had to fit precisely in the arches of the ceiling.

The architects of the neighborhood. 🧠✨

While our cast and puppets took the spotlight at Theater Stok, this incredible team of creatives was working tirelessly in the shadows to build the world of Avenue Q from scratch.

From blocking the chaotic staging and coaching complex puppetry mechanics, to arranging the live band, balancing the cellar acoustics, rigging the lights, and producing the entire run—these are the minds that brought Broadway-caliber independent musical theatre to life in Zurich. 🎭🏛️

We have some incredible news to share from our neighborhood! During our run of Avenue Q, our audiences proved that they have the biggest hearts in Zurich.

Thanks to your incredible generosity during “The Money Song,” we raised a grand total of 400 CHF! 🥂✨

Every single rappen collected is being donated directly to Essen für alle ( ), a brilliant local initiative providing food and essential support to people affected by poverty in Zurich.

Thank you for laughing with us, singing with us, and helping us make a real difference in our community. You are the absolute best neighbors we could ask for! 🏢🥦

"Everything in life is only for now." 🎶 Last night we took our final bow on Avenue Q at Theater Stok. To say this run was a dream would be an understatement.

To every single person who sat in those seats and made us a 100% sold-out show: thank you. Your laughter (and occasional gasps!) was the best fuel we could have asked for.

The puppets are packed away, the set is down, and our hearts are very, very full. Until the next adventure... 🥂✨

Tonight, we take our absolute final bow on Avenue Q at Theater Stok. We are ready to blow the roof off this cellar one last time for our completely SOLD OUT closing night!
