Why?

Using singing, dancing and acting for English Language acquisition and practice…
Courses at The Practice Room are taught in English. In 2007 and again in 2017, Kanton Zürich voted that English will be the second language taught in local schools starting as early as age 7, followed by French at age 11. As an educator and a native English speaker, I have found that engaging students through acting,

singing, and dancing encourages them to actively practice English in a repetitive way that is fun, physical, and vocal.

A space for you to learn, twirl, bend, and swirl. Come dance with us in The Practice Room. Let out your inner mover and groover. Life offers us a range in our practicing journey, so whether you are a beginner or on your way to being a professional, come PRACTICE with us.

To support your class or personal practice, the TPR offers a ballet barre, full length mirrors, professionally installed sprung dance floors, and a music system to pump up the beats.

One Thursday a month the Reading Rainbows gather to discuss well dog-eared books, underlined quotes, and circled AHA! moments. Sometimes the room is filled with riotous laughter and sometimes with quiet contemplation, even tears. All the end, all go home filled up with friendship.

Why practice?

Hi, I’m Melissa and practicing has been a BIG part of my life in the Performing Arts. From practicing my flute and the piano as a child, to 22 years repeating pliés at the ballet barre, to late night rehearsing of musicals at the MUNY in St. Louis, my life has revolved around committed, routine, and ritualistic practice working towards a career as an Artist.

I believe that practicing something you want to master is not about “practice makes perfect,” rather, that practice is about the commitment to refining what you love learning, and recognizing that the process of passing from a challenging phase into performing an action with ease can be quite joyous.

What is your personal practice at the moment?
