We are pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition of Nora Turato.

Conceived as a new site-specific work, pool8 marks the beginning of Nora Turato’s eighth “Pool” cycle. The Amsterdam-based artist structures her practice through recurring series she refers to as “pools,” bringing together different strands of her artistic output within a defined timespan.

Following recent solo exhibitions at ICA, London (2025), and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2024), Turato continues her investigation of installations that combine audio, text, and architectural response. At the Bechtler Stiftung, she uses the pronounced length of the exhibition space to reconfigure the room into an expansive work that spans multiple media.

Bringing together sound, perception, and spatial experience, pool8 engages questions of transition, bodily awareness, and the unknown.

Nora Turato (*1991, Zagreb) is an artist based in Amsterdam. The breadth of her work encompasses text-based installations, prints, books, and performances, placing language at the centre of her practice. Drawing on collected language as well as original text, she develops works that engage contemporary forms of communication, circulation, and expression. Recent solo exhibitions include ICA, London (2025), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2024), Kunsthalle Wien (2024), Sprüth Magers, Los Angeles (2024), and MoMA, New York (2022). Selected group exhibitions include SITE Santa Fe (2025), MUDAM, Luxembourg (2024), Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2022), Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo (2022), and Kunsthalle Basel (2021).

The Bechtler Stiftung is open again after the winter break. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back.

Step into “Schollen aus der Vogelschau” by Lutz & Guggisberg and revisit our permanent installations by Walter De Maria and .

This reel opens a utopian dimension of “Schollen aus der Vogelschau”: architecture as model and speculation, space in a state of folding and suspension. Guggisberg reflects on tipping points, spatial thinking, and video as an electronic layer embedded in the physical; Lutz evokes floating dwellings and the idea of a weightless architecture.
A poetic and visionary reading of the exhibition—where material precision meets speculative imagination.

This reel highlights a core aspect of the artists’ approach: the role of serendipity, the disciplined use of materials, and the equilibrium between pleasure and precision that underpins their temporary condensations, echoing the tectonics of our present-day civilisation.

„Schollen aus der Vogelschau“ is now open . The new multimedia installation by brings together hybrid miniature landscapes, embedded video works and a sound composition that merges industrial and natural tones. Built from discarded materials, hardware-store elements and newly crafted components, the model-like environments invite visitors to move, imagine, and shift perspectives: from looking down onto the knee-high landscapes to spotting the floating bungalow models suspended above.

Join the upcoming guided tour with the artists on 11 December, 6:30 pm

We look forward to welcoming you!

Pipilotti Rist (*1962) is a Swiss video artist known for her bold, sensual installations that challenge conventions and taboos with irony and confidence. In this work, purchased by the Walter A. Bechtler-Stiftung in 2001, the artist filmes her face as she moves through a shopping centre and a high-rise apartment. N**e figures, appearing like fleeting apparitions in a hazy forest, float above and in her forehead, creating a dialogue between inner thoughts and outer reality.

Rist’s work counters consumerism and the capitalist world with human drives and needs, envisioning a state in which life is harmonized with nature. The installation also reflects the paradox of urban life: proximity breeds distance, as people navigate each other like shy deer.

The second Zürich Biennial took place in the periphery — at the Bechtler Stiftung in Uster, a suburb of Zurich. It lasted exactly 24 hours and brought together works by thirty-five artists. While the first edition covered 500 m² at Kunsthalle Zürich and showed 200 works, the 2025 edition was limited to just 2.88 m²: a single table set for a single person — one who would never come or had already left.

A Biennale Song was released and played every hour on the hour. Visitors joined in with their voices. There was a bar designed by Sami+Kuba, ice cream, and something to eat — guests could sit inside or outside. All were welcome to be part of it.
