Next Saturday, March 15 at we present PALABRA DE LOCA, a series of newly produced works in connection with the Museo de las locas series. The project continues an ongoing investigation of trans/non-binary memory, incorporating the word as a working material. Between sculpture and paper, text and image, printing and erasure, the art object and music… Palabra de loca invokes, based on circumstantial wisdom and the testimony of resilience: the trans body as a center.

On the opening day we’ll presented one of the pieces through a listening session. Comme and join us!

Thank you y for this special invitation! 🌀💕

This weekend will forever be etched in our hearts. So much unfolded, so many emotional moments... there’s no way to capture it all in a few words.
Thank you, and , with all our hearts, for including our piece Schreber is a Woman in the exhibition Scientia Sexualis. We’re so happy that hosted such an iconic and necessary project, supporting its potential with a gorgeous publication and an amazing public program.
But moreover, thank you for inviting us to speak about delusion, memory, and transness in the covenant’s program Reckoning and Repair, in conversation with .wa.na
What an incredible three-day panel, formed entirely by transfeminist, BIPOC, anti-racist, functionally diverse, and transecologist voices, sharing and discussing such important issues, artistic processes, and concerns. This was not just an opportunity to learn and discuss but also to meet one another and empower each other.
We came back with so many precious bonds to flourish... In our current times, we need much more projects like this.

Museo de las locas ("locas" literally meaning "madwomen" is a homophobic slur that refers to effeminate gay men and gender non-conforming people) is a project that has been in the making for two years. It is an installation that consists of saturating a wall of the museum with trans and non-binary references, completely occupying it and adapting to the architecture. The work insists on the urgency of including radical q***r representation in the official art historiography and is part of a series of works that share the same research and that we have not yet publicly shown. All the screen prints have been produced little by little and by hand by Ama Sánchez , who has also worked on the colors. Museo de las locas dismantles the usual uses of the museum to inhabit it as a memory wall, since all the portraits are of already deceased q***r icons. The selection of the locas has been a very personal process that has involved remembering them through gesture, color and repetition, with a lot of emotion and mourning. All those images and ghosts have been accompanying us during this time. Now, the final work can be seen in Barcelona, in the exhibition .

Our Story

El Palomar is an art project focused on the investigation, recovery and production of q***r memories to review the hidden history related to gender politics. El Palomar is a working community, an ideological aligment and an institutional reassessment. In this q***r-based lab, its directors are artists, but also programmers and curators who generate critical discourses, combining multiple identities desire is catalyst for rethinking everything.

El Palomar was born in 2013 with the aim of providing a physical and self-managed space for artistic projects that, by focusing on s*x-gender-dissidents experiences, have a difficult place in the institutional context. Since then, they have exercised and questioned different formats and scenes, proposing collaboration between artists, enriching the cultural context in general and particularly research related to q***r politics and memory.

Beyond their independent trajectory maintained intensively until the closure of the physical space in 2016, they have exhibited in institutions such as the Fundació Miró with “Hedonismo Crítico”, La Capella with the research and film “No es homos*xual simplemente el homófilo sino el cegado por el falo perdido”, MNAC with the open laboratory, research and publication "Fons, armari i figura per Ismael Smith”, Casal Solleric, as well as participation in collective projects, in pedagogical fields or with performance proposals at MACBA, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Tecla Sala, MNCARS, Balaguer gallery, Homesession, 6mas1 gallery, Centro Párraga, Àngels Barcelona gallery, BAR Project, Matadero Madrid, among others.
