Last night, Arcangelo and Jonathan Cohen brought this year's Menuhin Festival Gstaad to a close with an intimate and magical performance of the B Minor Mass — one of the greatest works ever written. Thank you for being there with us. This summer has been filled with highlights, beautiful music, and unforgettable encounters. Until next year!

Today, the 70th edition of the Menuhin Festival Gstaad comes to a close with one of the most significant works in music history. Johann Sebastian Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor will fill Saanen Church – a work of extraordinary musical richness, combining moments of intimacy with festive splendour and profound emotional power. With Arcangelo, one of today’s leading period-instrument ensembles, and its founder and Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen, this final festival evening promises to be a truly special experience. A festive and moving conclusion to seven weeks of music in Gstaad and the Saanenland.

Soprano Julia Lezhneva has had to cancel her concert on 2 September at the Saanen Church due to an acute throat infection. Get well soon, Julia!

The good news: Israeli male soprano Maayan Licht is stepping in at short notice. Winner of the 2025 OPER! Award, he is one of the most exciting young voices in opera today, celebrated for his extraordinary range and dazzling coloratura.

Together with the Kammerorchester Basel, he presents "Sopranista Fireworks" — a virtuosic Baroque program of arias and orchestral works by Vivaldi, Handel, Purcell, Porpora, Broschi, and Giacomelli.

As summer slowly draws to a close, we return to some of the places at the very heart of our festival: the historic churches of the Saanenland and Pays-d’Enhaut.

From cello and organ with Jan Vogler and Christian Schmitt in Rougemont, to the radiant voice of Julia Lezhneva with the Kammerorchester Basel in Saanen. From intimate Renaissance and early Baroque love songs with Carmela Konrad and Emanuele Forni in Lauenen, to the sparkling virtuosity of Maurice Steger and Sebastian Wienand back in Rougemont.

And on 5 September, we gather one final time in the church of Saanen for the closing concert of our 70th festival season: Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor, performed by Arcangelo under the direction of Jonathan Cohen.

1946 von Sir Thomas Beecham gegründet, zählt das Royal Philharmonic Orchestra heute zu den renommiertesten Klangkörpern Grossbritanniens. Nun kommt das Londoner Orchester unter der Leitung seines Music Directors Vasily Petrenko für gleich drei Konzerte nach Gstaad: zwei grosse sinfonische Abende mit Thomas Hampson und Behzod Abduraimov sowie ein Familienkonzert mit Prokofjews Klassiker Peter und der Wolf, erzählt von Daniel Hope.
