Over the past ten years or so, the Folk in Heaven concert series in Pieterlen, Switzerland has featured stellar performances, not only from talented local artists but also from some outstanding acoustic musicians from around the world.

Two amazing concerts in a magical, musical May. On Friday the 1st, Dave Ellis & Boo Howard will bring their amazing songs, stunning instrumental skills and breathtaking vocals back to Switzerland for the first time in ten years. Two weeks later, on Friday the 15th, our Nashville-based friends Eric Brace and Thomm Jutz will be back at what we like to think of us their Swiss homebase with world-class American. More award-winning songs, more instrumental virtuosity and more dynamic vocals. Two great duos at the top of their form. Reservations recommended. We can't wait!

We know that a lot of you like to plan ahead so . . . save the date: on 1 May 2026, Dave Ellis and Boo Howard will come all the way to Pieterlen from London. This brilliant duo last played on the Folk in Heaven stage in 2016 and their return visit is long overdue. Their songs are superb, their voices blend beautifully and they both demonstrate instrumental virtuosity. We can hardly wait to welcome them back to Switzerland. Additional details to follow!

For people living not too far from my little corner of Switzerland, I wanted to let you know about a concert event that will be taking place at the Kellertheater-Lindenhof in Büren an der Aare on Sunday, the 13th of October at 5 p.m. My talented friends John McCullough and Helt Oncale, who started their musical lives in Texas and Louisiana respectively, will join me for a trio performance of what's being called American Friends (hard to argue with that name!): Songs from the Living Room. Helt is a fabulous guitarist/fiddler/singer/songwriter; John is the bassist I'd love to be and is a wonderful singer. We'll be doing some classic country and Americana along with a sprinkling of bluegrass and quirky pop as well as a healthy dose of Cajun, all with lots of harmonies. We have an evolving song list and never know exactly what we'll do but . . . a good time is guaranteed for one and all! On Sunday, the 15th of September, at 5 p.m., Folk in Heaven will present a very special program. We are proud to be hosting a screening of the documentary film Songs of Slavery and Emancipation (Lieder der Sklaverei un der Emanzipation). Along with the film, there will be a concert featuring Mat Callahan (the film's producer) and Yvonne Moore. They'll be joined by the amazing Jubalo Choir from Kentucky (USA) with the brilliant Kathy Bullock. The evening promises to be, in equal part, joyous and thought-provoking. We consider Mat and Yvonne to be considered national treasures and their breathtakingly talented friends from Kentucky will help make this a very special evening indeed! Hey everyone, the wonderfully brilliant and talented Nashville-based Eric Brace and Thomm Jutz will be back in Pieterlen on Sunday, 2 June, at 5 p.m. Reserve your tickets to see two of our favorite musicians (and people) at [email protected]! Hey everyone, this is exciting: on Saturday, March 18, Folk in Heaven's old friend Helt Oncale will be performing with Zydeco Annie and her Swamp Cats at the Kellertheater Lindenhof in Büren an der Aare at 8 p.m. For anyone who loves lively, energetic Zydeco and Cajun music, this show is an absolute must. And that's just the first highlight of the weekend. Helt will join John McCullough and our own Stephen Ferron the following day, Sunday the 19th, for what promises to be an entertaining house concert, also in Büren, at the Atelier Stadtgraben at 5 p.m. These three old American friends are from Colorado, Texas, and New Orleans but met in Europe. This will be their first performance together in Switzerland since 2005 when they accompanied the late, great Jeff Turner so . . . it will be a very special occasion. We're all ever so excited about the Kieran Goss & Annie Kinsella concert on Sunday but a quick note: one of the local newspapers said the event would start at 3 p.m. (15 Uhr). Oops! It will, in fact, begin at 5 p.m. (17 Uhr). Hope to see you there (doors open at 4:45 p.m./16:45).

Hey kids! We're excited to announce that we're reopening our doors for a very special concert event with Kieran Goss and Annie Kinsella on the 29th of January in 2023. Among Folk in Heaven's dearest friends and favorite musicians, Kieran and Annie will return to our stage for the first time since 2016. They are wonderful singers, songwriters, and storytellers (Kieran speaks excellent German) and previous experience tells us that tickets will sell quickly. Long time no see! - Wer sich im vergangenen Jahr auf diese Webseite verirrt hat, muss sich wohl gewundert haben. Ist der „Himmel“ eingestürzt? Wo sind all die wunderbaren Künstler geblieben?

Im vergangenen Winter konnten wir wieder einige tolle Konzerte erleben: Caludo, Taradiddle mit Helt Oncale, Joe McHugh, Hinterwäldler und MGM. Jedes einzelne ein Volltreffer!

Aus verschiedenen Gründen entschlossen wir uns dann aber (einmal mehr), dass wir unsere Aktivitäten etwas einschränken müssen, und wir nur noch in Ausnahmefällen ein Konzert organisieren.

Nun, so ein Fall ist nun eingetroffen! Der allseits bekannte und beliebte Singer-Songwriter Kieran Goss aus Irland macht auf seiner diesjährigen Tournee wieder einmal Halt in Pieterlen. Mit seiner Partnerin Annie Kinsella beglückt er uns mit einem wunderbaren Duo-Konzert. Die beiden sind ein eingespieltes Team und werden uns mit ihren Songs, Geschichten und Harmonien in eine andere Welt entführen.

Und für alle, die sich mit der englischen, respektive irischen Sprache etwas schwer tun: Kieran spricht fliessend Deutsch!
