Sandra created this beautiful rose bowl using grey clay. Each individual rose was carefully shaped with a silicone mould and then assembled piece by piece inside a plaster mould. A true labour of love, requiring patience, precision, and an eye for detail. The result is a unique ceramic piece full of texture and elegance.

At the crackle technique, you roll an ultra-thin, completely dry clay sheet into a moist clay slab. For extra effects, you can decorate the thin sheet with underglaze or engobe beforehand. A little tip: brush the moist clay slab with a bit of vinegar before rolling it in – this helps the crackle pattern adhere especially well.

Sabrina created a beautiful effect using a very simple stencil. With a damp sponge, she gently wiped over the stencil, removing a little clay from the recessed areas. This made the stencil pattern beautifully visible on the surface. A simple technique with a stunning result!

A simple way to create texture on clay: while the clay was still damp, I brushed it with engobe and then carved an interesting pattern using a texture tool. I love how the contrast and depth bring the surface to life.
