We are happy to welcome Ivan Cáceres, our new artist in residence from La Paz, Bolivia

Iván Cáceres is an architect and artist based in La Paz, Bolivia. He creates worlds saturated with the unrealities of audiovisual psycho-architecture across multiple formats, including performance, video and sculpture. He draws on the everyday whilst rendering it strange and revealing. He explores historical silences—those voids which, like his characters, call out to him, needing to be filled and heard— and, through his works, he formulates a present-day invocation of the colonial and republican Andean universe, treating the soil as a radical observation of a territory with its dust, winds, tragedies, wonders, and dreams that weigh upon that which is so deep that we call it ground.

Iván Cáceres will be living and working at Atelier Mondial until the beginning of August. His residency is realized in collaboration with

We welcome artist to Atelier Mondial!

The Institute Art Gender Nature Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW ( ) is delighted to continue its collaboration with SAHA Foundation in Istanbul () , as part of the ongoing partnership between Atelier Mondial and HGK Basel.

The research-based work of Dilek Wi******er investigates how the printed word and the typographic space create a sense of belonging. Her interest in the communities formed through publishing ranges from artists’ zines to the hybrid printing world in the 19th-century Ottoman Empire. Her research interests focus on the alphabet reforms, the symbolic meaning of alphabets, and the politics of translation. In her curatorial work, she has explored artistic and academic work shaped by experiences of exile and displacement.

Wi******er completed her undergraduate studies at Central Saint Martin’s College and her postgraduate studies at Metropolitan University in London and Marmara University in Istanbul. She currently teaches at Istanbul Okan University.

•Opening „Paint Things“ by Raphaël-Bachir Osman•

We are excited to invite you to the opening of Raphaël-Bachir Osman’s exhibition, „Paint Things“, on Friday 8 May from 5pm to 9pm. He spent spent 6 months in New York City in 2023 thanks to a studio grant by Atelier Mondial.

In ‚„Paint Things“, Raphaël-Bachir Osman presents a new body of work developed from modest, found materials — fragments of fabric and small, almost pocket-sized wooden formats. Embracing the unpredictability of textile, his paintings shift between precision and diffusion, allowing the material itself to guide the image. Blending everyday scenes, studio moments, and art historical references, these works unfold like a fragmented visual diary. Moving between figuration and abstraction, Raphaël-Bachir Osman captures fleeting impressions — light, memory, and atmosphere — through a practice rooted in observation and transformation. This new series invites viewers into an intimate world of wandering images, where the ordinary becomes quietly poetic.

The exhibition will be open as follows: May 9th to May 17th, Wed-Sun 11am-5pm

Location: Salon Mondial, Freilager-Platz 10, 4124 Münchenstein

Last Thursday, Atelier Mondial hosted a new edition of “Be My Guest” — a format created to bring together artists-in-residence from different programs and foster exchange.

This time, we welcomed residents from the Kaserne Basel program at the Cuisine Mondial.

As a residency space, we know how important it is to create moments where artists can encounter each other’s practices, share perspectives, and open up their processes. “Be My Guest” is an invitation to do just that.

Through presentations, conversations, and a final Aperol together, the evening unfolded as a space for connection, curiosity, and dialogue.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the atmosphere with your presence and generosity.

Amador e Jr. Segurança Patrimonial Ltda. (Amador & Jr. Property Security Ltd.) is a performative project by Antonio Gonzaga Amador ( ) and Jandir Jr. ( ).The work is carried out by the artists themselves within art institutions, where they appear dressed in security uniforms. The central problems arise from the relation between such institutions and and the people who work in their safeguards on a daily basis.

Currently in Basel for a three-month residency at Atelier Mondial, supported by , the duo, based in Rio de Janeiro, dives into the world of museum security guards in Basel—researching how their roles and working conditions vary between Brazil and Switzerland, as well as across institutions, from private to state-run, and from major museums to smaller exhibition spaces.
