•Opening „Paint Things“ by Raphaël-Bachir Osman•

We are excited to invite you to the opening of Raphaël-Bachir Osman’s exhibition, „Paint Things“, on Friday 8 May from 5pm to 9pm. He spent spent 6 months in New York City in 2023 thanks to a studio grant by Atelier Mondial.

In ‚„Paint Things“, Raphaël-Bachir Osman presents a new body of work developed from modest, found materials — fragments of fabric and small, almost pocket-sized wooden formats. Embracing the unpredictability of textile, his paintings shift between precision and diffusion, allowing the material itself to guide the image. Blending everyday scenes, studio moments, and art historical references, these works unfold like a fragmented visual diary. Moving between figuration and abstraction, Raphaël-Bachir Osman captures fleeting impressions — light, memory, and atmosphere — through a practice rooted in observation and transformation. This new series invites viewers into an intimate world of wandering images, where the ordinary becomes quietly poetic.

The exhibition will be open as follows: May 9th to May 17th, Wed-Sun 11am-5pm

Location: Salon Mondial, Freilager-Platz 10, 4124 Münchenstein

Last Thursday, Atelier Mondial hosted a new edition of “Be My Guest” — a format created to bring together artists-in-residence from different programs and foster exchange.

This time, we welcomed residents from the Kaserne Basel program at the Cuisine Mondial.

As a residency space, we know how important it is to create moments where artists can encounter each other’s practices, share perspectives, and open up their processes. “Be My Guest” is an invitation to do just that.

Through presentations, conversations, and a final Aperol together, the evening unfolded as a space for connection, curiosity, and dialogue.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the atmosphere with your presence and generosity.

Amador e Jr. Segurança Patrimonial Ltda. (Amador & Jr. Property Security Ltd.) is a performative project by Antonio Gonzaga Amador ( ) and Jandir Jr. ( ).The work is carried out by the artists themselves within art institutions, where they appear dressed in security uniforms. The central problems arise from the relation between such institutions and and the people who work in their safeguards on a daily basis.

Currently in Basel for a three-month residency at Atelier Mondial, supported by , the duo, based in Rio de Janeiro, dives into the world of museum security guards in Basel—researching how their roles and working conditions vary between Brazil and Switzerland, as well as across institutions, from private to state-run, and from major museums to smaller exhibition spaces.

•We are happy to welcome Yuya Suzuki to Atelier Mondial•

Born in Fukushima, Japan, is currently based in Sapporo. His work focus on the intermediate zones within urban environments—those between the private and the public, and between the artificial and the natural—Suzuki extracts symbolic images through the process of drawing, based on the forms of “residues” generated by the interactions among urban metabolism, natural forces, and human consumption. Using this visual language as a foundation, he employs various media—including sculpture, video, painting, and kinetic objects—to construct a unique simulation of reality in the form of mixed-media installations.

Yuya arrived at Atelier Mondial at the beginning of April and will stay and work in his studio until the end of June. His residency is in collaboration with

The traditional Meet & Eat lunches at Cuisine Mondial are always to come together to share flavours from all around the world. Our artists in residence and neighbours come to enjoy good food and conversation, and to exchange ideas and practices.

Last Friday, it was Atelier Mondial’s turn to cook. , an artist in residence from Rio de Janeiro, brought a taste of his hometown with a traditional street food from northern Brazil: tapioca —Brazilian pancakes made from manioc flour.

There was something for everyone, with meat, vegetarian, and vegan options, and to finish, a sweet version for those who love a little dessert.

Next Meet & Eat by Atelier Mondial: Friday, May 8 from 12pm until 1 pm. Don´t miss it!

•Meet our new artist-in-residence, Stephanie E. Creaghan, from Québec, Canada.•

Stephanie is a video artist and filmmaker whose project considers how violence inserts itself into communication, combining different linguistic pathways (audio/visual/sculptural) to spotlight these methods of aggression, from interpersonal manipulation to institutional gaslighting. They are more recently invested in lateral collaboration and in Blanchot’s literary silence, and lecture-performances are a new addition to their project, itself moving towards film (medium) and feature-length (form). They had their first solo exhibition in New York at D.D.D.D. in Fall 2025, and their first major cinematic presentation at the Cinémathèque québécoise in Winter 2023.

Stephanie will live and work at Atelier Mondial until the end of June, as part of a residency in collaboration with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
