Administration and events programming are organised and run by a small committee – elected each June by all members at the Annual General Meeting. de Beau-Rivage 2, 1006 Lausanne. At this very central location we meet for our informal monthly Clubnights, rehearse, have auditions and workshops and stage our public productions. If you’d like to join The Village Players, please email [email protected]. The current subscription for membership is:
Full membership (26 and over) CHF 85 / year
Full membership (25 and under) CHF 50 / year

These range from rehearsed play-readings, theatre workshops, music and poetry evenings to social events such as our Christmas get-together. One of the favourite events is the ‘As You Like It’ evening, a surprise collection of individual turns consisting of anything that tickles the entertainers' fancy. All paid-up Members receive the monthly newsletter – VPs’ Information – which keeps them in touch with all The Village Players’ activities through information and reviews of productions and events, announcements of interesting theatrical happenings elsewhere as well as articles and letters on topics of interest to Village Players members.

🎭 THIS AUTUMN AT THE VILLAGE PLAYERS…

What happens when fictional characters walk into a theatre and demand that their story be told?

A rehearsal is interrupted by mysterious strangers claiming to be unfinished characters, desperate to see their story brought to life. But as the actors try to make sense of them, the line between reality and fiction, actor and character, truth and performance begins to disappear…

Funny, unsettling, provocative and wonderfully theatrical, Pirandello’s classic asks: who really owns a story, the author who creates it, or the characters who live it?

✨ Tickets and cast list coming soon!

Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements and behind-the-scenes glimpses.

We can’t wait to bring this extraordinary play to the stage this November. 👀

Auditions are open for LEXICON, a brand new political satire. Written and directed by Paul Lynch, set entirely over a single night in the most exclusive boarding school in the world. The school that quietly shapes the people who will one day run governments, banks, and borders.

Lexicon is darkly comic, confrontational, and uncomfortably timely. It asks the questions nobody in power wants asked: who controls meaning? How are fear, inequality, and violence softened into something acceptable? And what happens when people start living inside words that were never meant for them?

🎭 Staged reading: Wednesday 21 October — CPO Theatre Space
📅 Rehearsal dates: Monday 12 & 19 October
⏰ Deadline for submissions: 10 August

Reach out to Paul at [email protected] directly for audition notes, character breakdowns, and further information.

🎭 The Village Players are opening up committee supporting positions and we’d love you to be part of shaping what comes next.

This is more than volunteering. It’s a chance to step inside the heart of our theatre community, where ideas become productions and collaboration turns into something magical on stage. With our new, collaborative structure, no one works alone, every role connects, supports, and helps bring better, bolder theatre to life.

Whether you’re a long-time Village Player or just discovering us, if you care about storytelling, creativity, and building something together, there’s a place for you here.

✨ Open opportunities:
• Entr’act Co-organiser – help shape our monthly gatherings, play readings, and run-of-show moments that keep our community alive and inspired. ([email protected])
• Communications Working Group – help us share our story, grow our audience, and bring each production into the spotlight it deserves. ([email protected])
• Technical Working Group – be part of the magic behind the curtain, supporting productions and working with lights and sound to bring shows to life. ([email protected])

💡 And if you have other skills, ideas, or simply enthusiasm, we want to hear from you. Every contribution helps us create stronger, richer, more exciting productions.

📅 Come to our AGM on Thursday, 18 June: vote, volunteer, get involved, and see where you fit in. Then stay for our summer send-off party as we celebrate the season together.

Let’s build theatre that moves people together. 🎭❤️

🎭 AUDITION CALL — SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR 🎭

The Village Players Lausanne are casting for a bold new staging of Luigi Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author — a darkly funny, metatheatrical collision between a rehearsal room and a family demanding their story be staged. This minimalist Lausanne-set production features 8 live performers, with comedy giving way to psychological drama.

ROLES CASTING:
✨ The Father — philosophical, intense, emotionally volatile; a man fighting to justify his existence
✨ The Mother — silent, grief-stricken, emotionally devastating
✨ The Step-Daughter — sharp, seductive, furious, wounded, impossible to ignore
✨ The Son — cold, detached, resistant, emotionally explosive beneath the surface
✨ The Manager — exhausted theatre director trying to control the chaos
✨ Player 1 / 2 / 3 — dynamic ensemble actors playing multiple theatrical roles
