𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 (Street soul) 💫

The art of Kelu Abstract always catches the attention of citizens when made in the streets. Fed by his humanistic commitment and his wide-ranging explorations, his art invites reflection and dialogue, while allowing the viewer considerable freedom of interpretation.

𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 favors monochrome in his work, appreciating the simplicity and strength of black and white, just like in photography. However, he sometimes adds a little touch of color to his classic composition, always sparingly, to maintain the balance and intensity of his creations. Or even colorful backgrounds made of collages!

In the studio, the artist deepens his approach by working on different types of supports. Such as rusty metal that he oxidizes himself using a secret process, or torn posters salvaged from urban spaces which bring a unique touch to his creations.

Moreover, 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 also works as an assistant alongside the internationally artist JEF AEROSOL. A collaboration both technically and artistically formative that has helped him to perfect his approach to painting through stencil art and his vision of the art world for many years now.

The artist’s characters, often androgynous and always in an “in-between”, neither frankly happy nor truly sad, arouse emotions and question without imposing an interpretation.

The photographic practice of 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧, exclusively in black and white and through film photography, also nourishes his art. He particularly appreciates the slow, reflective process of analog photography, which contrasts with the urgency of everyday life.

Artist focus: 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 (Lille)📍

Having lived in Lille since 1982 where he still lives and works today in his studio, the artist is deeply attached to his hometown where one can’t miss his work in the streets. In 2020, he left his job as a specialized educator but this profession with a deep meaning continues to influence his art.

Working with disabled people, 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 has developed a particular sensitivity to human nuances and the intensity of looks, which has become a central element in his work. He sometimes misses being a specialized educator, the reason why he enjoys continuing to lead workshops, particularly with people in difficulty to combine his artistic commitment with his sense of sharing.

Artist focus: 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 (France) 🇫🇷

Born in 1982 and originally from Lille, 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 is a stencil street artist, photographer and musician. Since his beginnings in 2017, when he began to invest public space with acrylic portrait collages, his work has been part of a quest to connect with others.

Gradually, he adopted the stencil technique, which enabled him to work quickly and instinctively in the urban environment. Since then, 𝗞𝗘𝗟𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 has been doing works on canvas with stencil and spray paint as well as on metal plates, road signs, maps and many others different medium.
