Some paintings seem to have a very specific destiny.
One year ago, in the heart of winter, I found myself shyly standing in the break room of a factory, presenting my painting project to the workers of Jeantet Élastomère. I asked who would be willing to pose for reference photos to be used in a future painting. The workers were curious — some intrigued, others a bit skeptical.
Gaëtan and Hassan were among the first to believe in the project and kindly agreed to be photographed.
After the opening of L’Arbre et la Machine, Benoît Jeantet decided to exhibit the painting at his company to mark the 120th anniversary of its founding.
In this photo, taken one year later, Gaëtan and I are posing — still a bit shy, but very proud — in front of the large painting titled:
« Bleu. Jeantet, Élastomère. Saint-Claude, Haut-Jura », now displayed in the very same break room where it all began.
A heartfelt thank you to Gaëtan, Hassan, Hervé, Nicolas, Benoît, and the entire team at Jeantet Élastomère.
