the JAS was inaugurated in june 12 2005. it's main aime are:
Tobe the focal point for the Jamaican community in Switerland for social and cultural activites
to promote the talent and culture the Jamaica
to uphold Jamaica as a prime tourist destination
to organise fund-raising activities to assit shools in jamaica
To contribut to the

cultural diversity of Switzerland and facilitate cultural exchange between Swituerland and Jamaica

The JAS is pleased to announce our first fundraising event of 2026 — a memorable evening celebrating our rich Jamaican culture, the camaraderie we’re known for, and a worthy cause. Join us on April 25 and enjoy a delightful concert featuring music from Jamaica and Europe. Artistes include our new headliner, Inga Feter (prize‑winning concert pianist), Elijah Salomon (Swiss reggae artist), François Detraz (veteran Swiss musician), and Brandon Crooks (Jamaican musical talent).

*Drum roll* Here we are everyone ! We have arrived at the end of our campaign ! JAS' most recent brainchild in order to help our beloved adopted school to renovate their staff room that was in dire need of a major touch up. First and foremost, we want to thank you all for your support , without you all this would not be possible.

Coming up is keeping you all posted on the journey towards the finished product. This is going to allow many teachers to breathe and refresh in a conducive space in between classes and provide a healthy mental environment to be ready for the day ahead. Stay tuned!

Together we stand. Divided we fall. 🇯🇲

Wake the town and tell the people ! Not our first newsletter ever created; but one that has been curated as "Hurricane Melissa Update Newsletter" and more than likely the first of many to come to keep everyone posted about the evolution of rebuilding Jamaica amongst many other news and entertainment updates in our diaspora. The JAS proudly has become the adopted parent of the Norman Gardens Primary School. Last year,after our yearly fundraising "Christmas Dinner Reunion" we helped them to refurbish their math room and what a joy it was when we saw the bright faces of the children and teachers when the final result was revealed! This gave everyone even more the desire to learn and succeed in an environment that is a million times more pleasant . It is within the same principle, that we reach out to you all to help us help them improve their teachers' staff room as it is in less than desirable /comfortable conditions. We appreciate your involvement and are very grateful for each franc donated.

Time has passed so quickly.Here we are, 4 days until ah time fi wrap tings up and it was just 17 days ago that this brilliant idea became such a worthy initiative. Six days guys! Six days till we reach the finish line of our campaign. We are so proud of every franc donated since our fundraiser started and appreciate everyone's generosity! To those who have not had the opportunity as yet, the time is now my people :)Let us think of the continuous comfort we will be adding to multiple individuals lives and how it will be fruitful not for one; but for many both directly and indirectly .
Jamaica's motto is "Out of Many; ONE People". Such a precious thought out saying, and when one ponders, not just for the habitants of our beloved island but also , on a global level! As humans, out of multiple nationalities, cultures and differences; there is one thing that we all have in common;at one point in our lives,we were all taught kindness, so let us exercise that today and give generously.

What a wonderful start of the week it is and a great opportunity to present to you our monday video which delves a bit into the lives of the children and teachers of Norman Gardens Primary School ; who are our dear recipients of this cherished fundraising campaign.

Margaret Detraz , founding member of the JAS team and also a past president of the Norman Gardens Primary School itself, visited the school grounds and documented it all just for you guys to see !!!
They were overjoyed, to say the least , about our involvement and send their gratitude to you all for taking part in making their environment more comfortable!
