MIAM was delighted to welcome the students from Laurent Estoppey’s free improvisation class, who presented their sonic explorations at MIAM last February.

From the immersive space to the corridors of the bunker, the students took us on a gentle sonic journey, making the different spaces of the venue resonate through their improvisations.

For the final sound bath of his three-part series, OneFootStep welcomes Osmium.

Osmium (ENNA x IZAK) is a duo that has spent the last couple of years exploring various experiences and mediums and has been researching cultural synergies and tensions between the west and the east. They are based in Switzerland but recently came back from a 5 year stint in Asia, located in Tokyo and being active in the underground scene, delivering multi-modal performances as part of the Art Collective « Fuego » or themselves as Osmium_AV.

The duo offers a live audiovisual performance that merges reality and imagination, fusing analog & organic textures with industrial noise. Their work presents a succession of tableaux where textures, shapes, and soundscapes take the audience on a contemplative journey. Oscillating between downtempo rhythms and breaks fueled by noise, Izak’s industrial music plays with tension and evocation, while Enna’s live painting unfolds like automatic writing blended with glitched found footage telling an abstract and enigmatic story.

If you’re into punk and experimental sounds, especially from the 1980s wave, don’t miss these little gems!! accompanied by anecdotes about Dodo and his story. Inuit Pagoda are sonic explorers from Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. They craft music that glides gracefully between jazz, krautrock, and ambient experimentation, while refusing any single definition. Founded in 2019 by guitarist-composer Emilio Vidal, saxophonist Nikola Jan Gross, and drummer Jonas Albrecht, the trio first distinguished themselves with a taste for progressive, repetitive structures and richly textured soundscapes.

From the beginning, Inuit Pagoda has blurred the boundaries between music, visual arts, and performance, incorporating graphic projections, mapping, and multidisciplinary collaborations. In 2022, the group joined the Creaked label and expanded into a quartet with Armelle Scholl (keyboards) and Marius Rivier (drums), enriching their palette with both organic instrumentation and electronic experimentation.

Today, Inuit Pagoda create immersive, vibrant music blending post-rock, ambient, noise, and jazz, inviting listeners into sound environments that are at once tangible and elusive, on stage as well as at festivals.
