Swan Theatre,
Victoria & Albert,
British Library,
Globe Theatre

I somehow came across four copies of Shakespeare’s First Folio during my UK trip.
Is there a slight unconscious bias at work?

But then, maybe the best parts of a journey are the detours:
the paths you didn’t mean to take, the things you weren’t looking for,
the little adventures that end up giving the whole thing its flavour.

Besides, compared with my most memorable Skyrim side quest (a drinking contest that ended with my avatar stealing a goat and getting engaged to a malevolent bird-witch), this unexpected pursuit felt relatively respectable.

This week marks 20 years since our first-ever premiere here, at the RADA Gielgud Theatre.

A valiant attempt to return to the Bar and see whether the house red still requires the indispensable company of a fair amount of chocolate fudge.

Closed doors brought the merry expedition to a halt just where our Othello poster once hung.

The grateful toast to all my theatre ghosts will have to wait.

Cambridge.
Unheimlich evening light.
90% eclipse of the art.

News, crisps and apples falling:
Newton would presumably have had thoughts.

Chiselling away at the right word,
the right breath, the right rhythm.

Physicists have gravity.
Playwrights have cats up trees.

————————

Final performance of CLOSE(T) tonight at the magical Tour Vagabonde.

A Shakespearean evening in the heart of the city, celebrating our shared humanity, the strength of embodied souls, and the bridges we weave between each other.

You’re warmly welcome.

With the fire you keep carrying.
With all your beautiful singularities.

What I love most about theatre is right here.

In this moment where a few people succeeded in carrying something they care about together.

Each one with their own talents, their own story, their own sensitivity.

To journey through the work, the laughter, the spirited debates.

To find the right place between humour and gravity. The right silence. The right distance for words to touch without crushing.

I believe in stories that don’t erase wounds, but eventually help soothe them.

I believe that, sometimes, human beings can make together great things that are simple and tender.

Thank you to my wonderful ensemble.
See you on June 18th. 💜

What if we invented a space for what is too often left unspoken?

In 2023, OUT OF THE BOX was born —
an unapologetic, reclaimed closet.
Welcoming, not smothering.

Since then, it has travelled a city hall,
three universities, soon a fourth.

Everywhere it went, voices opened up.
Always the same gentleness.
The same smiling at grief.
You know that smile.

Listening to them impacted me — the way fire does to metal, forging the shape into something that can hold more light.

Three years on, these voices are more necessary than ever.

Today, they come alive on stage with CLOSE(T) — a text I wrote, supported by the Jan Michalski Foundation.

Beyond labels, CLOSE(T) speaks to what moves through all of us: the loneliness we don’t name, the fear of being too much or not enough — and the stubborn hope of healing our inner child.

On stage, Amélie Chérubin Soulières, Olivier Havran and Billie Bird bring breath, body and music to these stories.

Five evenings.
Doors wide open.
Come as you are. 🔥

En 2023, OUT OF THE BOX est né —

Portes grandes ouvertes.
Venez comme vous êtes. 🔥
